Thanks for confirming. I had pretty much decided on a set of Mickey Thompsons to replace my Yokohamas (which are pretty dead after over 40K miles). These are perplexing though as I've always been curious about Duratracs; almost went with them on my Jeep at one point.

I loved my previous Duratrac in snowy conditions but did not like how noisy they were. Even when they were new. These are suppose to be even better in snowy conditions and they are much quieter. I will have my first chance to test them out this Thursday as I am heading up to the mountains and it supposed to snow. I was doing to go with the Mickeys too but changed my mind after seeing these. The weight on the Mickeys is 65lbs vs 56lbs was my biggest concern in the E load range.

I’ve used the original Duratracs on 3 Jeep Wranglers and have them on my 4R. They’ve been awesome on snow and off road, but do get louder on highway once you have 20K+ miles on them, but it never really bothered me. I’ll be following to see how the new ones do on snow and off road.

Yeah, they were kind of a jack of all trades tire while being a master of none I'd say. I think the E-load was warrantied for 40K miles, so I have no complaints .

Got quite noisy for the last 10K miles especially I'd say and I also want to get something 3PMSF moving forward since I anticipate we'll be skiing a lot more as our kids get older now. I could already tell snow traction was on the downward trend the end of last winter and figure they'd get me killed if I try to keep running them.

It's barely rained here since March though, so driving on somewhat bald tires hasn't had much risk associated with it .

For those who are thinking about these tires here is my review after owning these tire for a month now and about 1000 miles. Highway driving plus a multiple Colorado passes.
These tires are pretty amazing. They are super quiet and smooth on highways. I would definitely compare the noise level of the Ko2s and quieter than my buddy’s newly installed wildpeaks on a tacoma. No steering vibrations or shaking issues like I had with my old KO2. They are definitely a little stiffer than the original Duratrac but thats probably because these a E load vs D and the Kevlar sidewall.
I did get to drive in hard pack and about 6 inches of snow. In both situations these tire preformed above my expectations. Definitely they did better in hard pack than my original Duratracs. No sliding or spinning out even in rear wheel drive. So far I would definitely recommend these tires not only for the performance but also their looks. They definitely look pretty awesome.

Have a set in 265/70R17 (XL load rating) going on today also. With being able to stack my 5% Discount Tire credit card savings, $110 instant rebate and $100 Goodyear mail in rebate, this got my out the door effective price down to something like $890 installed.

I figured I couldn't go wrong to give them a try at that point and was saving around $200 versus a set of Mickey Thompsons (which I was going to do until these came into the picture).

Once I get some miles on them, will share some thoughts.

I second [MENTION=75956]speedyglx[/MENTION]’s impressions so far. 2 weeks of driving on my set of 285s and no complaints. Improvement over the original for sure. Haven’t gotten them on snow yet but might be able to do that this weekend with a storm headed towards the Wasatch.

Yes 285 and I got mine set at 36 psi. Haven’t played with it yet since it drives good for me

Have maybe 100 miles on mine so far driving around town, freeway and also some time in the wet. Very happy with them so far.

My Yokohamas I took off were shot, but I'm really happy with the overall performance so far. Will get them offroad soon.

After a mild winter in Salt Lake City and few opportunities to test out the new rubber in legit snow conditions, I finally had the chance to see how the Duratrac RT’s would handle a legit Wasatch snowstorm & eastbound I-80/Parley’s Canyon up to Park City last weekend.

Ran into heavy snow & 5-6 in of unplowed snow already on the road when I hit the base of the canyon (with 4x4 or Chains Required signs already flashing down in SLC). Slowed to 5 mph then to a complete stop from major carnage that had ensued ~1 mi up the canyon. Semi stalled in the middle lane & multiple others + 2-wheel drive sedans slipping all over the place.

Once I got thru the carnage (with snow still dumping) thankfully unscathed, the Duratrac RTs + 4HI tackled the fresh snow like a champ.

Super impressed with the performance. Mountain Snowflake Rating Confirmed.

After the bulk of the storm passed thru Park City the next day, I did have some yahoo in another Silver 5th Gen pass me just before the exit for US40 southbound (towards Heber). Dude ended up deep in the ditch after taking the exit way too fast for the (still super slick) conditions. Have a feeling he was in 2WD and lost the rear end accelerating thru the curve.

Couldn’t see what rubber was on the rig, but regardless, good tires aren’t a cure for poor driving sense.

My Duratrac RTs, still in 4HI, just rolled on thru and safely onto our destination (PS - had my mom with me and no useful recovery gear, so no, I didn’t even think about stopping to try & pull the jackass out of the ditch - he was going to need a professional tow where he ended up…).

Any more feedback from those who have them? Getting time to replace the crappy stock tires and these have me interested considering I can get them for 25% off through USAA. Was considering the Wrangler All Terrain with Kevlar before these came out, but they have me intrigued.

I got close to 10000 miles on mine. Still love these tires. These became my favorite tires I had on my 4runner. Still very minimal road noise. Hardly any wear on them. These tires are pretty incredible in snow. Drove on these tires from snow packed roads to over 18 inches of snow in the Colorado Mountains. Never had any issues. I would definitely recommend these tires over Ko2 and the Original DuraTrac. I would say get them. You will not regret your decision.

Kind of late to this discussion, but I have gone through about 5 sets of Duratracs on two different vehicles. They have been excellent for me and I don’t believe there is a better all conditions tire out there.

Currently running 285/70R-17 on a 15 4Runner Trail. Located in Western Colorado where we see every condition imaginable. Deep snow to loose sand.
