New here ideas and thoughts on my '96 t4r

Hey guys I am new on this forum and I just wanted some opinions/thoughts on my 3rd gen t4r! These are some of my thoughts and ideas of what I want to do to it, but I would like some input also from you guys!

-4.5 inch lift kit
-matte black spray
-LED light bar ( don't know what kind though)
-maybe a bull bar
-maybe some flood lights

so your opinions would be appreciated!

4.5" of lift would need to be body and suspension. Anything over 3-3.5 on the IFS would be really tough on your CV's.

Pure suspension, no. But a 3" with a 1.5 body would work if you're looking for a 4.5"

yeah i have been looking at stuff and anything over about 2" is a lot of extra work that i had no idea about! haha i am new to this though, so thanks for the input do you recommend a lift at all? Especially if I plan on offroading?

just take it out now to see what it's already capable of, which will help you better decide what you really need...

Fix the rust on the windshield frame and door. Why throw money away on lifts and bull bars when there is maintenance needed?

We have the exact same truck. Year, trim package and color. Here is mine with total 4.5" front lift and 5" rear lift, plus what ever tire adds. Thats springs and 1.5" body lift.

3.5 suspension is all you need. Body lifts just increase the your chances of rolling since all it's doing is raising the center of gravity. You can go plenty of places with 33's and more with 35's, neither of which require body lift.

Matte black looks great!

LED bars are awesome!

Research some real bumpers before you get a bull bar.

I was having issues with my 33's hitting the upper wheel well when flexing. The body lift helped stop that since it flexes so much. If I went solid axle than I would remove the body lift but for now it helps stop some rubbing without hammering out the body.

I'm with T4R2014 though, fix the rust first. Get a real bumper when you're ready. From what I've read on here and other sites, bull bars/brush guards/etc are pretty pointless.

I put a 3in body lift on my 98 four runner and it sorta sagged in the back end, so I bought some airbags for the back coil springs and it raised the back end at least 3-4 inches and their amazing, very durable and easy to install. I also took the rail guard off and it made it look a lot higher. The bull bar in MY opinion is very cool, but not very noticeable. I found a full brush guard on ebay for around $200, and looks great.

If you wanna go with matte black go with vinyl wrapping. Looks much better than any kind of paint, especially plastidip.

by matte black I mean that my cousin owns a body shop and I am pretty sure he can paint it matte for cheap. Is there a better way to do it? I am really new to all this thats why I am here asking questions

Nice what is the highest lift i could do without doing any major mods?
