I'm sure I'll get :flamethrwoer2: for this but: When I DIY my brakes, if there's no gouges/warping present I just slap pads on, bed them in and let it go... The only 'downside(s)' to my method has been very occasional, brief bouts of squeal and arguably slightly shorter pad life (it seems to be less the 5% shorter). I just hate cutting rotors unless it's my only choice.

I've actually seen some articles about this. But they said instead of turning, just to take some light sand paper and scuff the rotors a bit.

The other thing is for me, I've haven't lived in the city for a while. 5 years in a little town of clovis, nm (about 50K pop) then the last 3 on the outskirts of Tucson, with my 12 miles away also on the outskirt. So for me my brakes have lasted a lot longer, more like the 60-80k range.

Anyone have any comments about me needing rotors and pads at 39k? Is this completely unusual?

I am just under 55K and have not yet replaced any brake component. I have not even been warned that I am getting low. However, I am easy on brakes.
