New member









New member here saying hello and showing my new 15 SR5 PREMIUM I picked up today. It's replacing my 2008 FJ Cruiser. I was looking to purchase a Trail Edition but they are very hard to find. The dealers that did have them wouldn't do dealer trades as it was their last vehicle.

I ordered N-Fab step rails to replace the running boards and the TRD PRO Suspension kit. They will be installed by the dealer once they come in. I'll probably upgrade the wheels and tires at a later date.

Looking for other upgrades I can do to improve the performance and welcome suggestions. For now just getting to know the truck and having fun driving it around.

Congrats. I've had mine for a couple of weeks and still have a smile. Your first couple of mods beat my hitch carrier and canvasback:thumb:

Thanks! I have a couple of other mods I want to do but they will have to wait for now. I'm looking to get Weathertec Floor and Cargo Liners, Konig Six Shooter wheels in gunmetal and P285/70/17 Firestone Destination AT tires.

I'm on a slow internet connection and your pics aren't loading for me, so I can't see what style of stock running boards you have. There are some that are dealer-installed and some that are port-installed; the port-installed ones are all black with a pattern on the step that matches the top of the rear bumper, and they're not available in the accessory catalog - sometimes people are looking for them (check your window sticker for "Rigid Running Boards," option code "KH"). Either way, I'd recommend posting yours up in the For Sale section when you upgrade, as you'll likely get a few bites.

Thanks! They are the KH Ridgid Running Boards. Not sure what I plan to do with them. Going to hold on to them for now.

For now I'm keeping the tires that are on the truck. The suspension has already been ordered. Curious to why you would say skip the TRD PRO suspension?
 
Congrats, I also came from an FJ. Loved it, I had bought the first year and had it ever since, hard to let her go but upgrading to the 4Runner made it easier.

For the 4Runner I would stick with the stock size tire or maybe 275/70/17's unless you plan on lifting it more than the TRD suspension can offer. It's not like the FJ in that category.

Yeah I was sad to see my FJ go too. Loved that truck but it was time to move on. Thanks for the tip on the tire size. I've done a little research and I'm going with a 275/70/17 instead. Seems the 285 is too big and may rub.
 
Search for pics of the 275/70's they look pretty stuffed to me and unfortunately I think they only come in an E rating. Good for durability and strength but not for weight and mileage.
