New member... wanting to share plans for lift kit.

Hey guys and gals.

This is my first post and wanted to say this is a great forum. I just bought a 2002 4runner, I have always wanted one for years.

I am wanting to lift the rig with a good suspension setup. This wouldn't be my first time installing a lift kit. My other rig is a ford exploder that I lifted 7 inches, 33 12.50 mud terrains. But it took me a lot of researching to understand the suspension of the 4runner. After hours of searching this forum this is what i have decided to do to the 4runner

Front Lift
* 3 inch eibach springs( read the ride quality is good)
* Toyota Tundra Adjustable 5100 bilstein shocks.
*Tundra coil isolators
* Front Diff drop

Rear
* LC 8 wrap coils(used)
*LC stock shocks
*panhard drop

I decided to use these items for lift do to price and ride quality. I already have a rig that is pretty rough to DD(ford).

So what does everybody think about the setup I am planning on using?

Looks like a good setup. Only thing to change it that you will not need the Tundra coil isolators with the Eibachs. In fact they wouldn't even fit.

Thanks for the info on the isolators. I probably got confused because I was originally going to do the TRD tundra coil lift which required the isolators.

Quick question.. will the lc 8 wraps give me to much rake with the mentioned front lift? no plans for tire carrier or heavy rear bumper....yet.

I lied.... one more question. Is your part of colorado getting any snow? Over here in the springs it has just been real cold and windy... deep freeze pretty much

i am running a very similar lift i just have the toytec adjustable collars for the tundra 5100's and 8 wraps and it rides so much better than the OME kit i had and the rake is not too bad its about 1.5 to 2 inches. but i like the look of a little rake.

LOL i'd think it would be way more confusing to lift an exploder 7"!!

Sounds like a good setup man.... I'd just add a front Differential drop kit.... it's help reduce the angle placed on your CV's....

That was one of the answers I have been searching for!! Ride quality of ome vs coil overs, etc, and lc 8 wraps. Thanks toykidd

Yeah now that I think of it the exploder did take some engineering to lift. The 4 inch suspension lift was designed for a later year exploder with different torsion bar isolator mounts so I had to frakenstein and use later year dealership isolator parts.

The 3 inch body lift was for a ford ranger, so i had to modify the body mounts, and bumper relocation brackets to work on the exploder.

Definitely on the diff drop. I have replaced enough cv's and boots over the years on two different rigs... I strongly agree on diff drops

I am hoping the almost new 265 75 16 BFG all terrains will look decent with the lift. Right now the stock suspension is pretty saggy and the tires look kind of stuffed sitting on level ground with no real heavy load on the suspension

265/75 R16 will look just fine with the lift. I am running something pretty similar. A lot of people run them with their lifts. I am running the Tundras in front with the adjustable billies on the 2nd perch, top plate spacer with billies in the rear with OME 890 coils and some trim packers. Great stance for me. I couldn't justify the 33's and the loss of MPG. If you need any help feel free to shoot me a PM. I'm happy to help out another member who's clearly done their research before posting.
