New member with some sad news

It looks like our beloved workhorse 2000 4Runner gave it's life to protect myself and my wife last Saturday while on vacation in Northern Idaho. We slid off an icy road onto the roof, and the vehicle did suffer structural damage to the passenger side and roof/windshield. It looks like a total loss at this point, and I'll know for sure very soon.

The good news is that the 4Runner did it's job wonderfully protecting us from serious injury, and was fully insured. My wife and I will be looking to replace it with a 2003+ 4Runner, and I joined this site to do some research on the newer 4th generation models to figure out what is right for me. Anyway, thanks for having me.

Good to hear you are ok.
I know a few people who have rolled their T4R's and have been saved due to the solid frame and roll cage.

Glad to hear that everybody is alright. A car can always be replaced. You found the right place for any info you need though.

The 4th gen 4runner has better rollover rating than the 3rd.

Wider and lower means less rollovers and 4th gens are better on the highways.
