New owner, couple questions I couldn't find answers to...

New owner of a 10 SR5 4x4 here. Have a few questions I couldn't find answers to searching around the forum, any help would be appreciated.

1. Has anyone completely removed the rear sliding cargo deck? Is it possible? If not, has anyone found a good mat to lay in that thing to keep everything from sliding around?

2. Not a big fan of the chrome door handles and lower molding on the sides.... thinking of painting the door handles and removing the lower chrome molding... has anyone does this? Does it leave an ugly gap or can you just remove it and go?

Thanks. Looks like the cargo deck is staying in, I didn't think about the gab when the back seats are flat.

I'm still curious if anyone has removed the chrome molding at the bottom of the doors, not the rocker panel itself and what it looks like behind there... I may just get out the heat gun and check it out, I really dislike those chrome moldings.

The chrome moldings are held on by clips , not glued on. You just have to get up under there and look,they are blue plastic bayonet clips.You have to remove the rocker panel to get them off easily.

I removed mine 2 weeks ago and like the look without them. They are extremely easy to remove. 6 bolts and 4 screws that are all easily accessible.

Ice, can you please post some pix to show what your SR5 looks like without 'em? Did you finish the area with paint/sealant or a replacement plastic part like on the TE? :hungry:

I think it looks horrible to take it off and you see the holes where the clips attach the plastic chrome to the panel. But I did take off the chrome strip and painted it black. Extremely easy to do. Like Harper said, there are 6 or 7 blue clips that attach the chrome piece. You can see them under the vehicle but can not reach them without taking off the whole panel.

Mike - Unfortunately these pictures are from far away. And Yes! there is still snow in Colorado. I took the 4runner wheeling on Saturday and once we reached 10,800ft, we could not go any further since the snow was over 3ft deep on spots.

I have not done anything with the holes from where the rocker panel attached. I am currently talking to fab guys to build rocker panels. and if I get them custom made, I will have them weld the holes where the panels attached closed. Personally, I still like the look without any correction and you can only see the holes when you open up the dors

Need a hood deflector, window and moon roof vent shades, something to cover the area where the rocker panels were and 4th gen wheels with 285/70/17 Terra Grapplers attached then I should be set on the exterior. :guitar3:
