Not really. The older 2UZ-FE engine produced only 228 hp and 302 lbs of torque. The newer 3UR-FE engine gives up 381 hp and 401 lbs of torque while improving gas mileage.

The 2UZ wasn't a bad motor, and I didn't say it was bad. They go for a very very long time. Just not as good as the current v8 which might be the best v8 ever built. Still, it was a huge improvement over the 6 cylinder the 90 series came with, which ate head gaskets for breakfast, and was very underpowered for the heavy vehicles.
