New Pioneer System in '02 SR5

I assembled a new stereo system yesterday for my '02 SR5.

I went with Pioneer equipment because I've had good experience with the brand in the past. Not super high end, but more than adequate for my tastes. I chose a fairly standard double-din unit that had bluetooth for handsfree calling and ipod integration built in. Door speakers just your average 6.5" two ways, a smaller digital mono amp pushing 200W RMS which is the top end of what the pre-boxed sealed 10" low profile sub called for.

I'm really happy with the sub, I wasn't looking for ear shattering bass (I'm almost 30 - been there done that) but definitely require a little more depth than four 6.5" door speakers could do.

It's probably been ten years since I installed a car stereo (but in HS I used to do tons of them for my friends, etc. I think it's fun.) I was a little hesitant still, but Best Buy or even the local car audio shops wanted to rape me on installation - Probably at least $400 to get this all installed.

I took off yesterday afternoon and go the head unit, amp wiring, amp and sub all installed in just under three hours. Still need to do the door speakers..I'm sure they'll make a big difference.

So far so good, the sub sounds great, nice and tight. I also like it's low profile design and the fact that it's down-firing so I don't have to worry about tossing **** in the back of the truck. The bluetooth handsfree calling works awesome, haven't tried an ipod yet. I also have the steering wheel remote to control it.

You used 6.5 in the back? I'm about to buy new read speakers also hut crutchfield says that they don't sell anything that will fit it. Did you use an adaptor or just make a mount for it.

whoa sorry for the delay in reply.

i did use 6.5's all around, didn't bother to read what was stock in the back before buying the four 6.5's.

the rear doors, the plastic shell that holds the little baby 3" or whatever speaker comes right out, speaker and all which and leaves ample space for the 6.5.

two of the four mount points lined right up with the existing holes left from the plastic shell and i secured a third with a self tapping metal screw to the doors sheet metal. it's snug as can be and didn't bother with the fourth mount point on the speaker.
