New rear shocks and springs

I just finished installing new rear shocks and springs on my 2000 4Runner 4WD Ltd. I installed new Moog #81041 rear springs and KYB Monomax 565002 rear shocks. The ride is much improved to say the least. The only problem is the new shocks seemed too long. Where they mount at the bottom was three inches below the shock mount on the axle. I was able to get the bolt in but this didn't seem right to me? Also the truck now sits 2 1/2" higher in the rear than the front. Looks silly. I also changed the front shocks to KYB's but kept the original springs (105K) miles.
Is it normal for the rear shock to be so far off?
Do you think some top plate spacers will help lift the front to offset the rake?

The Moog springs may be taller than the factory coils. The part number for the Moog's do not vary from model-to-model and year-to-year like the OEM coils do so it's a case of one size fits all.

Wouldn't that make the shocks seem short?

If the shocks are gas charged they will extend themselves to full extended length when they aren't bolted to anything.

Remember, at ride height the shocks length is somewhere between fully compressed and fully extended.

Maybe its because your rear was sagged before? Look at the bright side, you just got yourself a little lift)))

Your shocks are only too long if at full bump (when the axle is against the bump stops like when you flex out a lot) the shock is bottomed out. You don't ever want the shock to bottom out before the bump stop hits otherwise you can damage the shock. Otherwise, like csp said most shocks are (and should be) gas charged so they stay extended. If your stock shocks were bad they may not extend on their own since they aren't pressurized any longer.
