New style of OEM running boards for TE?

Couple days ago I picked up my T4R TE from dealer (I've ordered it last December) and to my surprise it came with new style of running boards (at least there are new to me). I thought that they will look similar to the ones on the SR5 or Limited but without the chrome finish.
These look much thinner and I like how they match the roof rack style.
Here are a quick snapshots taken this morning:

Oh great, now another thing to re-think for the TE I'm planning to buy this year. I was going to go with either n-fab steps or full blown rails. These look much better than the old ones and have to be added to my To-Be-Decided list.

Yeah, Toyota is doing everything possible to try and get me to dump my SR5 for a TE, except offer the tan interior.

These have been out for a little while. They were posted on a running board thread if you do a search (of course so many different running board thread are running around so best of luck!)

Oh yeah, they look exactly like the ones for the Tacoma.
Every dealer I've visited before had Trails only with the running boards that come with Limited, but no chrome detail.
I hope Toyota will stay with this "new" style. It looks much better...

They are fabricated in Canada. I just put them on my 2011 TE. Self install is an easy one hour job. They offer a bit more room for the foot than the OEMs for the SR5 plus I think they look better. Pretty useful for car washing and accessing roof top luggage. Should also keep the rocker panels cleaner. OTOH they could get crunched if one does serious offroading in a $35K+ vehicle.

These are the boards that were introduced for the TE about September, if I am remembering right. I had them installed ASAP and love 'em. I weigh more than the average NFL lineman and they don't flex when I stand on them.

How much do they run? I'm looking at getting something for my TE (have been debating on nerf bars) and don't want anything too 'blingy' if you KWIM. I like the look of these a lot.

I didn't get a chance to do a proper full truck shots yet, sorry. Maybe this weekend But the running boards aren't very noticeable from the distance...

So after see this new running board for the TE, I decided to visit the part department. Got the parts guys to do some work for me.:lmao:So what do ya'll thing of the TE running board on the LE. I would have to customize mounting brackets.
