First some pics of the tint!
All i did was get 20% to match the front windows with the rear.

Those are just a few different angles... and yes the tires on the back are bigger than the front and i HATE it. The guy before me had them put on there and its really stupid. Even with HIDs my headlights are aimed down so far its redicilous. That will deffinitely be the next $$ mod i do is new tires feaux sheaux! Hope you like the pics i think it makes it look alot better!

LOVE the tint.

as for the tires, look at it this way,

how many rangers, chevys (fill in the blank) do you see lifted in the front?

flip the script, give em the finger, lower in the front is the new lifted front.

hahaha yeah true... the tread is wearing down and im kinda helping them :-) so hopefully soon, funds are a little low atm... but they get the job done for now. Till one goes and my spare is the wrong size... haha

Oh and Thanks!

Did you tint the windshield too? Kinda looks like you did in the 2nd pic. Windshield tint is illegal here (except banners).

Nah i didnt, it is illegal also, i was just kind of in a shady spot. i was going to get a banner, but the guy who tinted my window talked me out of it. Crazy huh? he said most cops when they see a banner automatically hints that the person will most likely have illegal tint. So they will usually pull you over. As opposed to with just regular tint they wont notice your tint till you are right up on them, and they most likely wont bother. *just his words not factual he said he had friends that were cops in the area who kinda ran by those guidelines. * He was a really cool guy and was willing to help and give advice.

Well tint is definitely on my 4runners christmas list. I will for sure be getting a banner though. I go snowbaording 50+ times every season. And every day I drive back. The sun is right on the horizon, nestled right in between my sunvisor and rear view mirror, staring right back at me. And its always too dark for sunglasses.

Yeah i hear ya man. That was the main reason i was gonna get one. On my way to class in the mornings i have to drive down the interstate and it always makes its way right there in the middle. I just use the sunglasses holder to block it. It blocks off your rear view mirror, but it does the trick haha. Keep me updated i wanna see some pics when ya get it! Remember when they apply the tint, there will be some small bubbles underneath it. Dont try forcing them out, it has to slowly push them out and seal it. If you try to push the bubbles out, it will leave a mark in the tint and will be lighter in color where ya did it... Just a tip the tint guy gave me...

for those of you that have this awesome 20% tint in the front... first of all that looks bad A! It kills me every time i have to look at my all black runner with only 30% or something hardly noticeable in the front :( very sad face.... It kills me more when im driving and people are staring at me...
I've gotta ask how in the world do you guys pass inspection with that dark of a tint?

At first i thought you said the tint looked bad.. i was like wtf?? haha... but uhh you kinda just have to find someone that doesnt care. Most places wont do it, but just check around eventually you will find someone. And yeah i love the partial privacy it adds! Why cant you go to a tint shop and get the front windows redone to 20% Usually only around the 60$ range. Not exactly cheap, but cheaper than other things... and Thanks!

I don't know if I could handle no tint or light tint.

Luckily we don't have any inspections of any kind here. Lots of people here have 5% or even darker. I really don't understand the importance of the inspections.

I got pulled over for 35% on my fronts and my wife got pulled over 3 times for her 20% fronts. Jersey doesn't like it and enforces it in certain areas with douche cops. I do really like the look of tinted front windows though. It makes every vehicle look better

So after some more research, I found that the tint laws for front windows here in NM say "more than 20%".
Should I interpret that as "at least 20%" or does that actually mean 20% is illegal and you can only get 21% and up? If all else fails I could go with like 25% or something, not that far off right?

Oh yeah it deffinitely adds to the appearance!! Ticket wise... im hoping since you can still see through i mean its only 20 not like its 5 or anything that i will be okay, the cops around here are too worried about inspection stickers, and speeding.

Laws wise, i have no clue on most of that stuff, the tint guy said anything below 45% on front windows is illegal in Louisiana. As for other states, depends on your laws. My mom works for state police*not a cop just in criminal records* so i may get here to check out the laws for that here. But from what it sounds, id smudge it and get 20% but thats my opinion to each his own.

haha no man i didn't know if i can say the real word or not. but yeah it looks awesome! im very jealous! I just may have to go get it redone UT law is 43% boooo! do you know if they take the old tint off?

Looking around here in utah a ton of people have a darker tint then the legal limit. Tint laws are ridiculous! I guess I understand that when a cop comes up he wants to see you but they should just make a law to have to open your window when you get pulled over or something.

so is 20% what the stock tint is? i dont know, with a light color interior and when the sun shines on it right you can see right through it.
I'm seriously thinking about doing this. I cant belive i paid $50 for a light tint doh!! :ybrick:

Yeah you can remove tint.... i dont know the exact process but im sure a razor blade and a few minutes you can get at it... haha nah dont listen to me go ask someone who tints windows im sure they will do it for you. They can tint over what you have but you may go darker than 20 and it may be off from front to back so to be safe id just scrap it and start over. I do know the rear windows on our 4runners are dyed 20% and not tinted. yeah 20% you can still see through with sun, but when your in the shade or get a good angle or at night its kinda hard to see through.

Definitely do it! I say forget the cops... honestly i think they will only give you a ticket if they are a d*ck and just want the $$. Its risky but hey it looks great! Just be as polite as possible if you get pulled over and crack a smile maybe you can get away with it. LA laws are 40% so im illegal technically haha.

On another note i have no idea how these guys with like 5 or 0% can see at night. When backing up i have to roll my windows down with only 20% and i have LED reverse lights that put out 2x more than standard halogen... its redicilous! Thanks for the comments!!

Little tip I got from a friend: if you get pulled over, roll down all the windows, especially the back one. The main reason most cops hate tint is becuase it is alot harder to see the person in the car and what they are doing, and with some of the crazy criminals out there, I don't blame them for hating tint. I mean they walk up to some dark windows, late at night, and they have no idea what is on the other side of the window, could be a gun. I would be nervous, a bit angry, and definitely on the edge.

So when they get someone who is polite enough roll all the windows down and they can plainly see, they feel alot more comfortable approaching the vehicle. and that means they tend to be nice to you and disregard little things like windows that may be a bit too dark. Might even get a warning for speeding too!
