I know its not a classic but thought I would share with you guys. So recently my '89 4runner lost the front main seal, so I took it down to parade rest to take care of a few other issues at the same time. Did the main seal, fixed a power steering leak, removed the remainder of the AC system, did a complete R&R of the cooling system with Permafrost silicate free coolant and distilled water after running a Peak flush and a powdered laundry detergent flush, Only to have my alternator catch on fire as soon as I started it back up and was finishing burping air out of the cooling loop. Im guessing I got some degreaser in it and it killed one of the diodes. Of course you have to remover the lower radiator hose to get the alternator out! So it will sit until I get back from deployment and actually pull the body to do long travel suspension and a freshen up on the entire motor. I leave less than a month so not a big deal. Anyways, I have been searching for a 3rd gen 4runner for several months, but what I always wanted was an 80 series Land Cruiser. We've not had much luck with the 4runner search. Anyways I pulled into a used car lot to look at a 3rd gen, but when I pulled up to park there was a Lexus LX450 sitting around the side of the building. Of course I headed straight for it! Turns out its not for sale in the lot but belongs to the owner. Long story short I made him an offer, we bantered back and forth, settled at $9000. Story on the vehicle is its a 1996, has 220k on it, and he hands me a stack of receipts from the local Lexus dealership. In the last 4 months this man has spent close to 6k on brand new trim, brand new paint, brand new leather, stack of parts on the engine, everything! It almost seems to good to be true but the receipts from Lexus match the VIN on this truck. Carfax shows 2 wrecks several years ago but no structural damage or airbag deployment. Its been a Florida truck its entire life. I hit the damn jackpot! Anyways enough yakking, heres the pics!
