After doing some donuts on the frozen lake close to my home, I had some problem with the tranny. I got a P2724 code, which has to do with a solenoid that controls the fluid pressure. Just thought I would share as I didn't find any information trying to see what was happening.
I checked the solenoid and it was ok, and a local tranny expert told me it was inside the tranny, needed to be rebuilted.
Took it to the dealer, the guy told me it was the first time he saw that. They had to talk with an ''expert'' from Toyota, and he said the same thing. Fluid level was good.
Truck only has 42k miles on it! It's a 2008 V8 Limited.
Symptoms I had beside the check engine light:
1st gear was holding on for too long (close to 3k rpm) even with a light foot. When it was shifting to 2nd, it was very rough and almost instantly shifted to 3rd. Then, before shifting into 4th, engine was reving like if it was on neutral, to finally engaging roughly into the gear.
When I went to the dealer to give the car, it didn't even want to shift from 3rd to 4th!
Below are some pics with the oil pan removed, and then with the valve body removed. It is a real mess to work there, as there seems to always have oil left to drip on you.
