Hey st8rocks...Tnx for the trail report! Would you say Brown Mt. (Trail 1) would be passable without sliders, by a reasonably competent driver (read military off-road experience)? I'm not incredibly keen on the idea of wheeling without them, but from the vids I have seen, it looks like trail 1 is not much more than a gravel road with some mild ruts and a few small rocks.

Yes passable without sliders. I read a bunch of trail reports before I went, all seemed to make it out to be quite easy. Its more than a gravel road that is for sure... I kept it in 4 low to keep things kosher. I could have done it blindfolded in my FJ80 but since I was in my 40k truck with 3000 miles I was much more cautious. There were plenty of times where I felt more comfortable with my friend driving and me spotting her. The elevation makes it fun and coming down is always a clincher.
I did not make it to the top, the last climb was a red clay hill so I did not trust my stock H/Ts from keeping me straight and not to slam the sides of the truck. There is another way too the top but we were maxed out for the day so did not look for it.
Pin stripping was minimal, everything waxed out. The bumps on the skids could have been avoided with better lines. We were out there for a solid 3-4 hours so make a day out of it.
I saw 2 new Jeeps and about 50 atvs and bikes so there is some traffic out there. Everyone was friendly. I did get a little worried when bikes flew by kicking up rocks. Facilities are decent. A handful of good looking campsites and the vaulted shitters were clean and stocked with TP.
