Hello everyone. New member here. I've been looking around at 4runners for a little while now. I had my eye on a pristine 95 sr5 v6 4x4 with 110k that a friend of a friend is looking to sell. It is in absolute perfect conditon and fully loaded. Never seen one soo nice. Problem is, he isn't selling it till he finds a new car, so it could be a while and my current 98 ford ranger 4x4 is starting to fall apart, so I'd like to pick something up soon. Anyway, I came across a 98 base model 4x4 with the 4 cyl engine and auto trans. Has 120k miles and is basically about the same price as the 95 i've been looking at. Has most of the same basic options, power windows and locks, cruise, tilt, air.....I was initially concerned with a 4x4 suv this size having a 4 cyl engine, but after some research found it has the same hp and only 3 ft/lbs less torque than the 3.0 in the 95. It can't be any worse than my current ranger which has the 3.0 v6 with 150 hp, and weighs 4000 lbs. So I was just looking to get any opinions from anyone out there who might own one similar. I'd imagine a 3rd gen 4x4 with the 4 cyl is pretty rare....I'd never seen one before. Is it worth getting the 98 or waiting for the 95 that is in like new condtion (the 98 is in decent condition, but not perfect). It is possible that I might use the truck for some light towing with a small trailer, but it will be few and far between. Also will see the occational trip off road. I'm going to look at the 98 tommorow probably.....are there any big known problems with these that i need to look at closely? Thanks for any help!
