New Warn Semi-Hidden Winch Kit bumpers

I just ordered this last night with a smittybilt winch. about how long will install take. ive installed basically the same thing on another car but this looks a little more complicated than I thought. maybe paying someone might not be a bad idea. but I wonder what a shop would charge me.

I guess ill suck it up and install myself. I have plenty of time on weekends. but how far back on lower support needs to be grinded away to avoid hitting swaybar? Id rather do that before I even try to mount the thing. apparently my front end will sag considerably with my mall crawler setup the truck came with. recommendations on a suspension system with all this extra weight up front? lve been looking into a toytec boss lift kit.

It’s a pretty simple install. Just take your time. I knocked out 90% of mine by myself in about 4-5 hours at a slow pace. The most time consuming part was cutting the original plastic, but it’s worth going slow to get clean cuts. The instructions that came with it were pretty ok as a guide. I didn’t have to do any grinding to get around the swaybar. I’ve got the KDSS.

Mine certainly sagged in the front after the install but I installed Bilstein 6112s up front and not only brought it back up but leveled it out. It also improved the ride quality in my opinion. I’m very happy with the setup overall.

What area of Washington are you in?

Maybe an obvious question, but looking at the install instructions it says to remove the aluminum cross bar, so I'm assuming that means I wont be able to use my Rago hidden lightbar mount with this?

Dont grind the support near the sway bar, install a sway bar relocation kit. They're cheap and you will get one with your boss kit anyway

my winch mount and winch showed up last night. id knock it out tomorrow if I could get someone to help me on such short notice. the instructions look a bit more helpful than I thought. would it be easiest if I put the winch in the mount, then lifted it into place with a floor jack?

Mount the winch first. I used to ratchet straps hanging from the rafters of my garage to hold the bumper at the right level then used the floor jack to level it out and make small adjustments.

unfortunately I cant get truck in my garage because of roof rack. also my garage is finished on the roof so no access to rafters. it is funny, I chose a 4runner because it would still fit in garage, but I went overboard and got a lifted one on huge tires with a giant rack. sorry, haven't figured out how to paste yet on my new laptop, so no picks. but this thread isn't for that anyway. thanks everyone for all the helpful info. since I'm just a newbie and can't even start a thread yet. I also have a few other plans since ill have the front bumper skin off...

How much room is there on the top of this to mount lights? Any chance a 9" intensity style light would fit on top below the bar?

hopefully my friend wont be too drunk tomorrow and can help me get it in place. I did as much as I could but I have a question. since I'm not using a WARN winch, I got a smittybilt xrc gen 2 9500lb, should I leave the rope off until the winch mount is installed on vehicle? it looks like WARN and the superwinch I installed on my lesbaru had the rope install through center part of drum and the smittybilt has it attach to the side.

Got mine installed this week. The guys at 4Wheelparts did a nice job on the install. Looking for recommendations on leveling out the front end now.

did you install the new fog lights? I have PIAA 510s that would look nice in that spot. so I'm thinking this can be done when I have bumper skin off?

so I installed today. much easier than I thought. just very time consuming. how can you guys do all this in a few hours? well not totally finished, still need to hook up winch to battery and put rope on. so I guess my idea for PIAAs in place of the factory fogs would be too much work. anyway I read the entire thread last night. lots of good info. thanks everyone.

I just got mine today, holy hell Warn needs to work on their packaging. The bumper was half out of the box sitting in my driveway when I got home. I have two dings in the powder coating but they can be fixed easily I suppose. Too much of a hassle to ship it back anyway. I was surprised that the powder coating is so thin as well. Does anyone have a recommendation for concealing two small blemishes? I don’t want to leave the bare steel exposed.

On the positive side, these things are built really well.

Installed my Warn bumper and Smittybilt 10K winch yesterday. There are a very helpful couple of youtube videos that along with the average instructions that make for an easy install. Bumper cutting was very time consuming for me but it's done right! The TRD Pro skid plate mates up perfectly with the bumper leaving full protection with no gap. I did have a 3/8" front end drop with the 5100 Bilsteins and stock springs. Quality product, fast shipping, good price, what more could you ask for?? I'll post some better outside pics soon. Any light bar advice?

I have the Cali Raised behind the grill LED mounts with that it hold (2) 32" bars and those are too wide in length and get blocked by bull hoop. I would say if you are trying to mount to the bumper itself directly and in between the hoop you couldn't get more than a 20" bar.
