Well kinda new. Joined here when I bought this thing for $1500 and never hung around. I spend most of my time on 3ZC since I have a 300zx I'm building with a Lm7. Anyways...guess it's time to know the in's and out's of my 4 runner since I decided to take out a monte carlo today with a hulk smash. Pretty much messed up everything on the front. 274k without an accident on this thing. -_- Following too close and didn't stop in time(simple story). Anyways I am going to have to bend the front radiator support back to it's original position and while I am replacing things I think I will be going to a fat lip bumper ad clear lights on the front.

It's not a 4x4 truck and I don't want to spend a grand on a custom bumper when I was so close to finishing this....


As for the hood though.....good idea. =)

Has anyone ever replaced the core support? I know it is sport welded in but just wondering if it would be a good idea to make sure everything is straight.

 
Radiator core support replacement is not all that bad. You will need to buy a spot weld removal tool, it's like a drill bit with a spring loaded pin in the center. I got my parts guy at the dealership to print off the dimensions for the wheel wells and core support as they relate to the firewall. It can be done in one day IIRC.
 
Do you still happen to have those sheets and could perhaps scan them and send them to me? Would be nice if you did. If not I imagine I could find them.
 
Have you looked under the hood to see what else is damaged? There is a lot of stuff that gets broken in an impact like that and it gets expensive and time consuming to repair. I should have those pages and would be glad to send them.
 
Ouch! I saw the Georgia tag, where was this accident? I think I passed by it or at least heard about it.

Like said before, there is a lot of break away parts under the hood so be sure to do a through inspection before going to work on it, you don't want future problems down the road while in the middle of no where!
 
Austell RD right below South Cobb High at 5:40 on 4/22.

Under the hood the only thing I found broken was the fuse box plastic support. I think it managed to push the DS inner fender back a tad but I am not sure. Maybe not since the door seem is perfect but the front of UCA bolt is closer to inner fender than the PS side. Other than that radiator, condensor, and shroud is all that was hurt and the obvious body pieces.
 
I guess I will have to research what a taco front end looks like on a 4runner. I was more leaning to the Limited Fat Lip 99+ Bumper painted silver to match flares, with the 2002 Grill (undecided if I like it better thought), and all clear lights.

This is the weird wrinkle I have in the DS fender well and I am 99% sure it isn't suppose to be like this. I have the fenders off and the first thing I will be ordering is a new core support. I guess while it's off I will clean up where the PO (my uncle) let battery acid run down the fender well onto the frame rail which is now rusting. And honestly I like the taco front end where everything can be painted the color of the car but I am not a fan of it on an light color. Looks a little goofy to me.

 
Hi I'm on rcrc too, I think I saw your build there(awesome). My question is where you get those radiator support assembly spec measurements? I haven't checked Toyota or body shops, because I enjoy the forum search and they are harder to get answers from. They want the work. Any advice would be helpful, thanks
