newb needing lift help

Ok let's start with I am a car novice/idiot.
I have a 13 Limited that I want to throw some mods at. I was guided by someone I don't think knows what they are talking about into getting four bilstein 5100s and put them on at about 2". Since I have XREAS is this really a correct option? Is there a better way to go? This is more for looks. It will be on some muddy roads and trails from time to time, hunting and fishing but no real offroading.
Love the forum but you guys are going to put a hurting on kids college fund.

That's a nice truck. Please don't lift it just for looks. Look into a comprehensive kit such as toytec, radflo, or old man emu. The components are all designed to work together. Cutting corners with suspension stuff can hurt your ball joints, cvs, etc. Some also say to avoid spacer lifts. Xreas will make things interesting. Others have lifted with xreas on the forum.

First off, what are you going to use your truck for? Is it going to see dirt a lot, a little, or in between? Do you daily drive it? What are your budget restraints and finally what is your ultimate goal for your build?

Oh and your buddy is wrong about 4 billy's on 4 corners. The rear needs springs or a spacer to lift.

Just so you know, if you put in Bilsteins (or any other suspension) you'll lose XREAS. I think you need to ask yourself if that's worthwhile to you just for looks. If I were in your position and not planning on going off road I'd ditch the big wheels instead and go to a 17" with aggressive AT tires.

You're going down the same road similar to me. Limited with the XREAS, to lift with spacers or replace everything. I do a little bit of offroading (once or twice a month), I ended up going the route of bilsteins (5100s) all around with new springs in the front and rear and added in new UCA. My lift should be here within a week or two, if you can wait I'll update to let you know the change in ride.

This is why I dig this forum. I will be driving this as my every day ride. It will go and play in the mud maybe once a month. I may go out of my way to go off road twice a year. If I go toytec is that changing everything as far as my suspension goes? Budget is not very restricted. I would like change the look with some lift and tire change but don't want to kill all that I payed for in the limited. Thanks again for the help.

If budget isn't too much of an issue for you and you still want to swap your suspension to get some lift you can do a lot better than Toytec (based around Bilstein 5100s) in my opinion. Take a look at Radflo, Icon, OME, etc.

Like in the other thread, I would upgrade the wheels (17") and leave XREAS as its a good system, especially on road. Will also do just fine for every now and then mild off roading. If after a few months of off road use you find that something is missing you can always upgrade later.

But yeah, your buddy is wrong.
