newbie JBL sub bracket

I just traded in my BMW for an 06 SR5 4WD for more versatility and love it so far except for the stereo. I couldn't find the answer to this anywhere on the forum:

Somebody is selling this on Ebay. My 4runner doesn't have JBL, would this still fit in the rear panel? I want to replace the sub with an 8" JL and put another amp in the same location. Apparently you can't buy the bracket without the amp and sub. I want to take up minimal cargo space and other options are more expensive than I want to go.
I'm also getting an Alpine 9857 and 6.5" Focal components in the front doors and 6.5" Focals in the rear. Thanks

You want that to fit INSIDE the quarter panel? To me it doesn't look like it will fit, especially with that amp located where it is, but at the same time im not sure. Is that advertised as being made to fit a 4runner?

Like I say im not sure but off the top of my head it doesn't look like it would fit.

And good choice on the focals, you will love them.

4alarm's got a thread with photos of the inside of quarter panel on a non-JBL equipped 4th Gen here.

And here is how you get inside that panel.

Someone around here said the stock enclosure depth was 4" so keep an eye on your replacement driver's mounting depth.

The only thing that is odd is that on a current 2006 JBL setup the amp is on the opposite side of the car as the sub. The Subs is on the right rear quarter panel, while the amp is under the left rear quarter panel. So if that amp is affixed to the box there (which It might not be, it could just be sitting there for the shot) it sn't an 06 setup.

Also something to consider. JBL stereos are not compatible with anything aftermarket (speakers, headunits, amps) so the same might be true with trying to hook up a JBL sound system to a non JBL setup, it might not work electrically.

Thanks for the help, I decided not to risk it and am trying to get a custom box made that won't take up any space. This guy's reserve price is $50 and nobody has bid on it so if anybody is in need of a new stock JBL amp/sub, this might be a good deal
