Nitto Ridge Grappler?

Just had these tires installed last night on a Pro with the 2" Toytec lift. Love them so far. What pressure are you guys running with the C's? I don't have extra weight on this thing (yet), so wasn't sure if I should running a higher pressure as compared to the suggested 32 psi on the sticker. Thoughts?

I am running 38 PSI.

Any pics?

Not the best pic, but here you go.

I'd do 36 at least. If they were on my truck, I'd be at 38. I like a firmer tire tho.

For those interested, I just measured my 285/70/17 KO2's. They were 32x10.25" which is definitely smaller than advertised. If these come out to a true 33x11.5 it will be a size increase for sure. Time for me to hunt down a black friday sale!

So far I've been extremely pleased with mine, and I'm at about 4500miles on them. 3000 of them we're from New Mexico along Route 66 up to SoCal, and up the CA coast to Oregon. I've driven them in the desert, silt and sand, lots of highway, and snow and rain. I went through a monsoon in the Mojave desert going from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

So far what I've noticed is the rubber compound is softer, so the truck (due to tread pattern and material science) is much quieter on road. The Trail Grapplers were extremely quite relative to their tread pattern. Meaning that as M/Ts they were quieter than Toyos, but that didn't mean they were silent. When I'd get calls in the truck I'd typically have to yell or pull off to the side of the road. With the Ridge Grapplers I can take a call and I don't have to raise my voice. They're about as quiet as all weathers. Simply put the truck itself makes more noise than the tires.

In the rain they also didn't get squirrely, which I've found the mud terrains can become. These stay nice and planted.

In the snow? So far amazing. The Trail Grapplers are exceptional off road and in the mud, but the channels were so deep that they'd pack up with snow and turn in to racing slicks when you hit deep snow. I was up to about 22" of snow yesterday and on moderate hills the truck still kept chugging along.

My rims are 52lbs a piece, being beadlocks, but each wheel is about 114 lbs combined, which is pretty impressive since they're 35/12.50R17s.

I'm really impressed, to me these are the tires to beat.

Snow

Finally got two decent 4wd trips and two good snow / slick road trips on these.

Offroad they were great. I have the C's and they are supple and aired down to about 17psi were really grabby. I did some pretty decent CO trails with them and they were grippy in all terrain and I did a lot of rock rubbing and root rubbing and they held up like a champ.

In slick/snow I can say they are significantly better than a full MT. In fact I am actually more impressed than I thought I would be. I drove on slick surfaces as well as packed snow and they performed really well.

So I think I really got the balance I was after.

Also, on the road, I'm finding somewhere around 28-32 psi is best for all around handling characteristics, ride, etc. I know that's a bit lower than other guys are running and may lose a bit on gas mileage that way, but having had a lot of off road tires I have learned that they will likely wear better and more evenly at a PSI in that range.

I really like these tires. I've had Terra Grapplers on a Grand Cherokee and Trail Grapplers on a JKU, love both of them and the ridge grappler seems like a nice inbetween.

Has anyone mounted these in a 285/70r17s on a 5th gen with bilstein set at 2.5" in the front with 1.5" spacers in the rear? I'm not opposed to adding a 1/2" body lift if needed.

Also, does the 285 fit in the spare tire location? when searching I've read some 285s do, but since this tire runs large I'm assuming it doesn't.

I can attest to the fact that the 285/70/17 does fit in the spare location without issue.

Curious about this as well update me if you figure anything out this is the setup I am leaning towards this as well.

Nitto Ridge Grappler

There is a guy on the 5th Gen 4Runner Familia facebook page that just got these shoes and posted a pic or two.

ahbot Can you please post a picture of your 265/70R17's

Front and side view if possible.

I'll take some front pics tomorrow. They don't look skinny but I'm planning to go 285s eventually.

Rig looks awesome! Curious as to what PSI you're running on those 265s? I'm looking to switch over to the Ridge Grapplers from Duratracs but my Duratracs are c-rated and I know the RGs only come in e-rated in 265/70/17. Mid 40s?

I'm running 39 psi from day one. Runs really smooth. I was in snow, ice and rain during a 10 day trip. I was extremely happy how the tires perform.
