Nitto Ridge Grappler?

Finally got around to putting my set on yesterday. First 20 miles has been great so far, no noticeable noise and tires does a great job on the pavement. Only concern is now the car tends to wander to the right, any solution for this?

Have an alignment done. They will get louder as they wear, I have about 7K on mine now and they are a lot louder than when new. Big thing is be careful in the rain for the first 3K-4K miles. They SUCK in the rain until they are broken in. First day I had them I almost slid out. I had the KO2 before these and they did much better on wet pavement.

Checked out the Nitto site, and I noticed a new 285/70R17 116Q tire. Hadn't seen that one before. Is this a P-rated 285 Ridge Grappler? Any takers? All I see are posts about the C & E load tires.

Got mine today too and had them installed (265/70r17). So far so good. Drove about 30 miles today. I can't tell a difference in terms of noise between these and the stock AT20s.

Tire installer said they set the psi at around 38. It was 40 when I checked it after driving a few miles on them. Ill have to check tomorrow morning for a cold psi check.

Give them 5000 miles you'll notice the noise quite a bit more. Also, your pressure is likely way to high. Do the chalk line test and adjust as needed. I'm closer to 33 PSI on mine which made them much smoother and much better in the rain. Watch yourself in the rain for a while also, they are pretty poor in the rain until you get some mileage on them. I went from the KO2 to these and almost lost it the first time I drove with these in the rain.

I checked again this morning and it was 36psi. Ill do the chalk test this weekend and adjust accordingly.

And I'll definitely be cautious in the rain... Living in Florida oh boy, it is Hurricane Irma 2.0 everday from 2pm to 6pm.

I get that the C rated will likely last longer but the p-rated have a better ride and will likely provide better mpg due to weight. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I bought P285/70-17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers from Discount Tire about a week and a half ago.

They have 2 ply sidewalls and 5 ply tread, which will be fine for the light off roading that I plan to do.

I have a set of 4 Ridge Grapplers for sale if anyone is interested. 295/70/17 with 7500 miles on them. Went from a 3" lift to a 1.5" lift so going with a smaller tire. Pick up only, Jessup MD.

I've been running 35 PSI. Max is 44 PSI, so I may bump the pressure up a little, to see if/how it affects ride and handling.

I have a TRD Pro, which rides an inch higher than other 4Rs do from the factory, and I understand that it also has minor fender well mods done by the factory.

With the above and 17x8.5 wheel 0mm offset wheels, it rubs lightly on the mud flaps at full lock in reverse.

The front will be raised and addt'l 2" and the rear 1.5" shortly, and that should take care of the minor rubbing. If I didn't lift it, the mud flaps could be lightly trimmed.

Replaced BFG AT with Ridge Grapplers, 285/70/17 - love em! Rides great, not that loud, the agressive design make it looks as if it fills out the runner better with a wider look. I am happy with them.

Just got some new Nitto Ridge Grapplers on the rig as well. 285/70/17 C-Rated. Got a solid deal on them and paid only $215/ea from America's Tire Depot. Retail I believe are around $250/ea.

Ended up throwing a small lift on there to fit the larger tire as well with Bilstein 5100's all around at 2.5 in the front and the daystar 1.5" spacers in the rear.

Love the look of them and the drive super nice. Not really anymore noise than the stock Duratracs that I can notice either. Did notice a slight bump in the MPG though.

Thanks for the reply. I recently purchased the 2/1.5 Jason B cornfed lift and am waiting for the install. Once installed, gonna get the ridge grapplers installed. I, too, have a trd pro. Stock nittos are approx 40k miles so wanting to replace as I've noticed some vibration while @ high speeds.

Update: 265/70r17 load range C, 36 psi. Driven about 1300 miles. My daily driving consists of 15 miles local weekday with 100 miles 80/20 highway/local on weekends.

No issues on wet conditions (FL, rains all the time). Still quiet (may have gotten a tad bit louder but cant really tell if it's just road noise). Took it driving on trails, mud, and an offroad park and it did fine.

Mpg: with prior dunlop at20 and my driving "style", I was getting maybe 17 city, 19 hwy. With ridge grapplers I am getting 14 to 15 city and 17 to 18 hwy. But with the amount of city driving I do, I get like 16mpg average according to my log.

Con: I don't understand why C and E are both roughly 54.5ish pounds per tire. Maybe if it was lighter (C) then it would be a "better" ride. I didnt know this, so my fault.

I got these tires just to get out of the dunlop highway tires. If I can do it over, I am thinking I shouldve gotten P rates tires and get C or E later as my mods (including bigger tires) will all be done around next year.

Finally pulled the trigger on tires, 265/70R17 C load Ridge Grapplers

Discount tire aired them to 40 psi, after a couple hundred miles I dropped to 38 and ride has improved markedly. 36~37 may be the sweet spot, although I've only had them for less than 1k so far.

Mounted on Friday, sand tested on Saturday, love the looks and performance of the tire...
