I've read through the entire thread, and posts on pages 46-48 and 57 have some really great information regarding the P-rated RGs. I'm wondering if anyone has tried both the C and P-rated version of this tire and can speak to the difference in comfort or MPG. I know that comfort is subjective, but for anyone who has felt the difference, was it just noticeable or substantial in your view?
I'm installing 285s the week after next and have gone back and forth between P and C half a dozen times. I do light to moderate off-roading most weekends. Never for off-roading's sake, but rather just to get to remote locations so the kiddos can swim near a waterfall and have a picnic or something. I'm in the southern Utah desert, so the terrain can be sharp and punishing at times. Other than that, it's DD the rest of the time. So far, I haven't had any flats on the P-rated Dunlops from the dealer (fingers crossed), but it's only been a few months.
I won't hesitate to get C's if I need to, but if I can manage on Ps AND the difference in comfort or MPG is significant, I think I'd just get Ps with DT certificates. It says orders take 8 days, so I'll need to put it in soon. Any particular reason why I should definitely get Cs? Any advice is really appreciated. If not, maybe I'll try both myself and document my experience. Thanks, all.
