nitto terra grapplers? How good are they compared to other all terrains

I was interested in the Nitto TG and had three tire shops tell me the same thing, one of which is owned by a family friend.

They said, be careful where you buy your Nitto tires. Unlike other major brands like BFG, Goodyear, Toyo, etc. , Nitto sells their "2nd" or blem tires. They do so in bulk with other 1st rate tires. BFG, Goodyear, Toyo, Continental, etc. do not sell blems.

These are sold to larger tire chains directly in bulk. There is a percentage in each load that are 2nds. The chains like Americas tire buy Nitto in bulk like that because they get them cheaper (and can sell them cheaper) and their volume justifies having to replace a couple tires every once in a while.

I have run Toyo Open Country A/T 6 ply 265 75 16 on all three of my previous Tacomas, and the least mileage I got out of a set was 115,000 miles. and they still had tread, the problem was that the tire was dry-rotting. I would not run any other tire than the Toyo on any truck I own. I am currently SUFFERING!!! through these DUMB-LOP Grantrek's on my TE, They can't seem to do anything! But I am stubborn and will not change them out till they wear out:crybaby:

I ran those Nittos on an old GMC 2500 for a couple of years. They were the E rated model, but worked well in all conditions except sticky mud.

They did get a lot of flats though; nail magnets is what I called them.

No I actually meant miles, my tire shop actually kept one on display with the mileage on it to show what proper rotation and care can do.
