No dash lights with headlights on.

I switched out my radio in my 07 4runner sport non jbl last week and thought everything went well. Now When I turn on my healights at night I do not have any dash lights. When you turn off the headlights they come back on. I do have a left over connection from when I changed out the radio but I figured it was for steering wheel radio controls. Everything seems to be connected properly. I am at a loss. :ybrick: :ybrick: I hope that you guys can point me in the right direction. Local audio shop said they would charge at least $50 just to look at it. Thank you guys.

agreed, i freaked out one night and then realized it was this. definitely an easy to miss goof.

I checked them. Just took it to stealership to have them trouble shoot. Hopefully they know what they are doing. :thanks:

Check and make sure all wires are covered and the new head unit is grounded. I had the same issue with a Tacoma years ago.

dealership and u pay a diagnostic fee. u should of taken out that radio and put stock in and see if that works first. then u know that the orange wire on the harness to the aftermarket radio is wrong.

make sure you have the correct "illumination" wire connected to the radio. sometimes there are positive and negative "ILLU" wires on different headunits. when in doubt, dont connect any of the orange wires. see if that fixes it

Somehow the dimmer switch got turned down. When I turned it back up, the instrument panel lights stay on when the headlamps are switched on.

Dimmer wheel

I had the same thing happen to me and I got really worried. There is a dimmer wheel to the left of the speedometer and you just need to turn that all the way up.

Were you able to find the issue? I installed after market Dasaito head unit and having same issue.
