No heat from '95 4Runner

My '95 4Runner has not hot air from the heater. The air is warm and that is it. It already cost me close to $300 to diagnose and replace the water valve and I still have the same issue. Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Does it get up to operating temp?

What do you mean by "operating temp"? I drove for 35 minutes and the air is still warm and not hot.

Means: Your trucks temp gauge: does your truck heat up? If so, then it is probably your heater core inside the truck.

If not, then your truck isn't heating up enough; probably a stuck thermostat or something.

I replaced the radiator, thermostat, and water valve. The suv temp gauge does go up to the middle and stay at the middle.

But here it is. It sounds pretty clear it is your heater system. Here is how that works. From the top rear of your engine block you have an inlet and outlet line that pulls hot coolant from the block into the cab and circulates it down to the heater core, then back up into the engine. You have a valve at the inlet port, right at the firewall that is attached BY WIRE to your temp control. It happens often that this will COME OFF and then that valve won't open all the way. If that valve doesn't open all the way, then just a trickle of hot coolant will get into the heater system in the cab. Check that it is attached and able to open.

If so. Next: Your heater core could be clogged. This also happens. Have it checked.. and go from there. Your blower fan bad. Core clogged. It isn't your engine and it isn't your coolant system proper. It sounds like it is the cab side heater system.

I'm sorry if I sounded like was mad. I was not aware that I was mad when I wrote what just wrote above. I was just telling you what I have just done to the vehicle just in case any of those part may have contributed to the problem. Actually, I'm very glad that you answered my question because a couple of times I wrote something in here and it would take months for anyone to respond. So, I'm greatly appreciated.

Anyway, back to the issue. I did replace the "valve at the inlet port". That was the valve I mentioned above that cost me roughly $300 when it was all set and done.

The next step is the heater core could be clogged. How do I check that or do I have to bring in to a mechanic?

Try this... with the engine warm and the valve open, feel the hose downstream of the valve going into the firewall. Is it warm?

If so, you either have a blocked up heater valve or faulty heater door flappers (or a broken or disconnected cable that operates them).

If it's not warm, then you're not getting enough coolant up to and through the valve. It could simply be that you have air in the system and it needs to be burped. I've had to sometimes burp my system even after having a mechanic work on the system.

I just bought an 86 4Runner and it had both issues at once. While I had the heater box out I repaired the broken flappers and resealed them with foam.
