No love for my ride

I have a remote start on my 3rd Gen 4runner, my 4runner looks basically stock. Ok, here's my short story...I was going to the store, find a close parking spot. I come back with all my groceries and remote start my ride. I do it like its nothing to me, it's a habit for myself. I didn't realize there was this couple that was walking by as well. They were like a teenage couple. As i'm driving pulling out, she tells me "That is sick, I like that remote starter you have..." then she slays my pride as she continues saying, "...not in that ride though."

I was upset with today's generation of PIMP my RIDE status. Of the total "flashy" appearance. I think its BS. But at the time, i was hurt by her comment.

So has anyone else recieved no love for their ride because of a modification? Or are 4runners not considered cool?

yes, we all lived through those years where we judge our self worth by what others think..our hair, our clothes, our parents, where we live, or whether we drive an H2 with 24" pimp wheels....then we got it together and drove or bought what we wanted and not give a damn about what some snot nosed 'ho bag thought.

Perhaps some nice comeback such as "perhaps you have a better ride?" would make you feel better? Or some self deprecating comment like "it works just fine." Or maybe a good old "F*CK you you skanky little C***sucking whore! I got your ride right here" as you grab your crotch.Somehow, the last comment would be more appropirate. and satisfying.

But as you get older and wiser, you won't care what this 'ho bag thought as you look at snotty little insecure b*tches liker her with a condescending smirk and continue on your way, thinking in your mind..."Stupid immature slut."

3rd Gen $runners are nice. Leave the H2s and their blinb bling crap to the pimps and crack pushers in the ghettos.....

Pimp my ride, man, is there people that watch that show? I cant stand 5 minutes of it, its all show, no go. MTV sucks. Most TV shows suck. MTV should play videos, not tv shows.

I could care less if people like my ride, but I live in a small town, not big city where people have to have a fashionable ride to get around in.

I am young and I don't go for the chrome look and the big rims. I know a lot of people who do, but I personally can't stand the look. I would take my 4Runner any day over those ugly pimped out cars. I have to admit, I watch Pimp My Ride but not because I like the way the cars come out, I like some of the electronic that they put in them. Does anybody remember what happend to a brand new Limited when it was on that show? :upset:

In addition, I don't know if anybody here collects model cars but have you walked down the model car aisle in a WalMart of ToysRus? They are all models of blinged out cars with chrome rims and fancy sound systems.

Move to interior BC.....Toyota trucks and 4R's (of any vintage) have huge status....it's almost weird, everyone just loves them. I got more positive comments on my 4R's than in the Lexus SC430 I used to steal from work once and awhile!

as far as the OG thread is concerned. no one's ever made fun of my trucks. only my GF tells me that my 04 looks like a minivan hahaha. i agree with her though, that my '00 Sport was a better looking truck. everytime i see one in black (like my old one) i want to get another (in time i hope to).

as far as chrome + gold trim and rims go, not my style at all. 9 times out of 10 it makes the car look worse and ghetto fabulous.

Well... 4Runners aren't "cool" but they're generally well made and perform pretty well, especially off road. People's superficial opinions about my vehicles are extremely low on my list. If they don't like my 4R, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it...

I can't figure out why people will go buy a nice car and then just RUIN it to make it look like a ghetto sled. I've never forget one day when I was meeting a sales rep, we went to lunch, and on the way back I pointed and laughed out loud at this stupid looking lowered down tahoe with huge wheels and low pro tires (on a 4wd!), stupid looking "euro" tail lights, mirror tint etc etc. When we pulled back into the office he says "there's my ride" It was a similarly idiotic looking lowered down suburban with spinners. He glared at me and it was everything I could do to keep from laughing in his face.

I get compliments from mostly other truck guys but the hood scoop and TRD Sport stickers on the rear sides draws attention from the younger crowd.

I don't get the looks like my '93 Eclipse GSX got but I do like the attention of having a rarer 4Runner and one that has a few simple mods to stand apart and in Colorado there's so many 4Runners I had to do something to stand apart but I did it tastefully.
