Noise when opening my door?

I have a 2012 LE and I am curious as to a noise I hear when I switch off my truck and then open my door, it sounds like a small motor of some sort.???

Any ideas? It does not bother me at all just wondering what it is.

I am reaching here but just in case, do you have motorized running boards? I know we do not have memory seats, steering wheel etc....that's the only thing I can come up with that happens only when the door opens.

Nope no running boards. I press my on/off button, engine shuts down everything normal, as soon as I pull the door handle I hear a whirring motor sound?

never been in a 5th gen but do these trucks have retained acessory power after the key is removed? it could be your a/c turning off or something along those lines, just a wild guess.

I have the smart key so no key is used, everything is powered down a/c, stereo. C'mon 1st engineer where are you.??

2012 and doesnt have retained acessory power? that is a simple luxury all new vehicles should have.

Do a search on the forum, there are many threads on this issue and if I recall correctly the sound you are hearing is from the fuel pump or something like that near the gas tank that shuts off shortly after parking...

How would you title the search? Funny Noise? Also the noise sounds like it's coming from under the front console. Anybody with a LE have this noise

No clue sorry but what OBW2011 is talking about is not it as its usually well after the truck is off and comes from the back.

Yeah I didn't think it was the fuel pump, now I'm getting annoyed with it as no -one else has this noise.

Its the security system recharging the ejector mechanisms. Make sure you don't dawdle while getting out.

yes...try this--open the door before you turn off the ignition and then close the door...you'll hear the same noise...

Should be able to hear the same noise when starting as well, if you can over all the bells/dingerthingers... at least in the push button start/stop Toyotas I've experienced.

It is the steering wheel lock as part of the smart key. Turn ur truck off and before u open door notice its not locked. Then open door and it locks. Its normal on limited.

I just checked my 12 LE and all I could hear was the DVD unloading and the HVAC fan powering down. Now I didn't drive it, just got in, started it and turned it off. I'll try to remember to listen the next time I drive it.
