US Forest Service seasonal road closures...
Yeah the gentleman manning the snowplow took pics of the plates (old plates now that I've gotten my legacy plates in..:biggrin1

It's legit...
Lots of legal fighting over the last 20-30 years about use and closures and environmental protection and what not. Seasonal road closures are part of the current status quo...
Depending on the forest, the road, and the general weather conditions... Nov. thru April is typically closed... but if there is spring snow - like there has been - I'd expect the seasonal closures to extend out till end of April or May (or later depending on how much more snow/rain falls this week).

I believe Bowman Road is closed where the bridge washed out last winter... not a seasonal closure... but a damage closure... so it'll be closed till repaired (if its repaired).

The website for the campsite or the Forest Service site for the road? There are other roads into the camp site... so I'd expect that the campsite will get opened (if it is not already).
With the recent snow and rain combined with the expected rain up there this week... I would expect the seasonal closures to still be in effect. I cannot find out for sure online... so I will try to call today if I can ...

I went to bowman in feb. diddnt make it all the way to the bridge before my buddy had to leave. Diddnt know that happened! There’s other ways around, however they take much longer which means much longer way back.

Aside from the main trails outside of Arnold (Sourgrass, Corral Hollow, Slick Rock and Deer Valley), there are a lot of Forest Service roads as well as Black Springs OHV.
Yes, the Murphys Pour House has great beer on tap and always revolving. The othe thing great about Murphys is almost every place is within walking distance of wherever you park. Lots of good food and I suppose wine (if you like that sort of thing).
I have plenty of recommendations for places up the Hwy 4 corridor.

There's also an abandoned mine? Ski resort? Something... That [MENTION=142877]Folsom4Rnr[/MENTION] told me about a few months back.

not sure how accurate this is but it says Blackwood Canyon Trail has points with over 100 inches of snow cover still..... not saying I'm not down to try but I've had my fair share of snow wheeling this winter already :thumb3:
I'll keep an eye on it and we can get out there in a few weeks. Let me know what happens this weekend as well.

That’s where I’m at as well. Snow isn’t bad but if I’m takin my family want my daughter to have fun as well. One of my truck drivers told me there’s no snow up 80. We’re expected to get a little bit this week I think.

There's a trail just to the left of the dinner bridge that crosses the dried out creek. But you're probably right, with the recent weather conditions I wouldn't be surprised if it was still closed.

I called ranger stations in Tahoe and El Dorado National Forests and both are still under seasonal road closures this weekend (TNF till May 1 per the ranger). Note - MET and trails in that area are part of the EDNF... including the abandoned ski resort at Iron Mountain off HWY88.
I havent looked... but I would suspect the Stanislaus National Forest has similar restrictions... ... if someone can call the Ranger Station and confirm trails are open and can pull together the details and a group for Sunday Im sure I could make it down ... (but I cannot make Saturday tho - have prior commitments).

Knoxville/Cow Mountain might be a bit of a stretch for Sunday... Poker Flat? I think there are some random trails directly north of Placerville too...
