Welcome! So much to do and drive around both on the western and central/eastern side! From San Juan Is hopping and exploring to going into the Cascades and Olympics in the different seasons. Heading on i-90 or HW 2 gets into the passes and some great trail exploring and over around the Columbia river can find some more great areas for camping and exploring.

Another one we like is Deception Pass State park on the north end of Whidbey Island with lots of old growth forest and good views of the sound.

I would avoid deception pass. It's my backyard as you can see from the deck photo, but the crowds are ridiculous in the summer. It is awesome as a day trip though. As other have mentioned, the MT. baker corridor is fun, but I prefer Hw 20 east of I5, less crowded and more forest roads. If you haven't done NF road 17 loop it's well worth the trip. It's right around Concrete, and one of the best roads I've been on in Washington. Not too difficult during most seasons, but gets fun in late fall/early spring.

Not a bad view at all. I wouldn't mind waking up to that everyday. I have never actually camped at deception pass. I've been there 3x for day trips with out of town friends. There's not a whole lot to it but we did hike around the little island in the middle once and that was fun.

Is NF 17 something that could be done stock or does it need a lift and tires to get through? No plans to do tires till the stockers run out this summer but would like to get up there before I move to the bay area, CA this summer. Probably head up early June or Memorial day weekend pending amount of snow still up there.
