RLCWeldFab, guys who built my bumper and skids, welded up my sliders for me. Always blown away by heir skills and craftsmanship. Just need to get them painted and it's back to him to weld them on the rig.

That's what I thought hahah.

That's why i always bring my fabrication stuff to them. Has great design and fab skills. He wants to mass produce the bumper he built for me just need to get enough people to buy them.

Talked with him about building a full length aluminum roof rack next.

Got the sliders etched primed and painted this evening.

For anyone curious as to what paint to use that actually looks good, cheap, and is durable. Check rustoleums truck bed liner. Went with the aerosol at 12$ a can. One can was able to coat one slider and almost the second one in full, and for undercoating in a can it lasts awhile which was good. Finish is phenomenal in my opinion. Not too rough and not too smooth, just enough grip to not slide off when stepping on them.

A good scuffing with a red scotch brite pad, with gloves on, because the oils from your skin with soak into the metal and adhesion won't be the best.

Let it flash and laid down the bed liner. Went on great and finish is beautiful

Went to visit family and decided to grind some rust on my older brothers 3rd gen. His truck was being used by his significant other when I got there so we decided to do the back half of mine and coat it. Ended up grinding the back half of his down waiting for the POR15 tomorrow.

Used a combination on tough wire wheels on a grinder and some grinding discs for the big spots on his rig.

Once sanded down, we used POR15's Metal Prep. Never used this stuff before and it's amazing. Basically spray the affected areas down, let it sit for 5 minutes and do another spraying or until satisfied. Basically turns the minor surface rust into paintable metal. Great product.

And after. So much dirty, tedious work, but good lord is it worth it.

Back half of the frame rails. So good.

We're going to finish the rest of his rig tomorrow as he is in much more of a need than I am. I'll finish the rest of mine in increments when I get some free time.

Sliders welded on and man are they stout. Excited to beat these things up and see how they do.

Even better...the wifey can more easily step in now, so she approves. She said it's her favorite part I've put on yet haha.

Planning a Labor Day weekend trip with the wife and pups. Thinking about Virginia Beach or maybe some place closer like the Gorge or Gatlinburg, but I'm leaving the destination up to her. Can't wait to whip out the tent again and enjoy a nice relaxing weekend.

Spent most of the day Saturday doing the center section of the frame with POR15. So nice having an already virtually rust free frame so some scuffing with a scotch brite wheel and some wax and grease remover did the trick. Very happy with how this project is turning out. I've used POR15 on a lot smaller applications, but this stuff far exceeds my expectations.

Boy do I need a new gas tank skid.

Just need to take the wheels and skidplates off and then finish the front. Probably going to end up buying a few cans of Eastwood Internal Frame Coating and do the inside of the frame before cold weather/winter comes around.

I know I've heard of some people drilling drainage holes in there frame but I'm unsure of where and how big of a hole to cut. Anyone have any pics or insight?

Can you send me a link to which light pods you are using in your bumper? I am seriously considering getting that bumper as well.

I'm assuming your truck has 4.10s being an auto 3.4 4x4 without a locker? I have the same drivetrain (also assuming mine has 4.10s), and I just ordered a set of Falken A/T3Ws in LT285/75/16 that are about to be mounted.

How bad was your fuel mileage/power before the supercharger? I'm a little worried with the mountains around here. I just drove mine to Flagstaff from Phoenix this weekend, and even with my P265/75s it struggles a bit.

They are just some cheapos off amazon. Been working well since I bought them, are bright, and haven't leaked yet. The black paint on the front has started to chip off though.

4.30's on mine. I was getting close to 300 miles on a tank, with the charger I'm getting about 270 to a tank.

It was kind of a pain to drive up hills with tires and armor before the charger, but with it, it's back to where it should be haha.

Yeah I’m still in the middle of the swap but it’s coming together smoothly so far. I’ll hopefully have it fully swapped this weekend. I just have to wire it and plumb it.

Been lurking your build thread as well. All these tank swap threads recently really makes me want to do mine haha

If the stock tank isn’t in the way for you, I wouldn’t worry about doing the swap. If a good skid plate won’t handle what you put it through, then I’d consider a swap. My plan is to eventually 4 link the rear for quite a bit more travel, so the stock tank is in the way for that. Plus I smash my tank a little too much already.

Ordered a new tailpipe and muffler. While doing the POR 15 I removed the trailer hitch and had to move the tailpipe out of the way to get to one of the bolts, ended up being too rusty towards the muffler flange and busted a hole in it. It's clanking all over the place and is bothering the hell out of me. Ordered a Walker muffler and tailpipe which showed up today. Just waiting on the gaskets.
