Hahaha not even close. I went to the bottom of the fender. I'll redo them tonight properly and post back. Wow I really misinterpreted those first instructions lol. Sorry about that!

actually best way to measure is from center of wheel to bottom of wheel well. this will take the differences in tire thickness out of the equation.

Okey dokey. So here are what the actual measurements should be based on that image you sent. Keep in mind that this was definitely not level ground whatsoever. With that being said, the back looks to be sitting around 39.5" and the front around 38.5". Does that sound better lol

There really aren't any "actual" measurements, I think they are useful to compare among others 4Runners. If you browse the tire/lift thread, you'll find some members that have posted those measurements.

Although to compare among different 4Runners, it's more accurate to measure from the center of the wheel/hub versus the ground. (To rule out wheel/tire differences). I just wanted to see what yours was.

In the pic I posted, my measurements are about 37.5" in the rear and 37.2" in the front.

It's so awesome a little bit higher off the ground. I'm thinking I might need to take off the running boards soon

Just a little shot from the torrential downpour in CT yesterday. Handled like a dream.

I've heard a lot of people complain that the KO2s are not that good in rain but I thought they drove fantastically. They seemed to grip well and they chewed through the puddles and standing water on the road. Didn't seem to have a problem but I am curious what everyone else is experiencing.

So, nothing new as of now, as I am really busy with work and life in general. I don't think anything new will happen until I get back to school, but once I do, oh boy it's gonna be open season :wink2:

So I figure I might as well give a list of stuff I am planning on doing in the near(ish) future:
-Custom Sway Bar End Links

-CB Radio (Probably just a Cobra 75 w/3' Firestik mounted to rear hatch)

-Some new skids (probably going to go with standard BudBuilt, but I am considering RCI. If anyone has solid personal suggestions, let me know)

-Might throw on a Gobi Rear Ladder since I think it looks awesome and I'll have actual income at school :bowl:

-And finally, I want to get a small toolkit to keep in my car at all times. Anyone got any suggestions? Nothing massive and crazy, but rather something reliable that I can use on the road if need be.

Painted skids red.

Had the skids off for the lift, and since they were a rusty mess, I decided to use some rustoleum and do a quick red paint job. Just for shits and gigs really :happy:

Now all I have to do is drill out two bolts I broke, replace them with some SS bolts and put them back on the car.

Did a bit more work on the car today. Completed the 03->06 Headlight swap with relative ease. I haven't seen any fantastic literature/guides on how to do this for a newbie, so I think I am going to make a (hopefully) idiot proof guide on how to do it. But for now, here is a nice comparison of the old and the new.


Also installed two new switches. They are pretty awesome and simple to wire/install. Had to sand down the inside of the switch hole a bit, but nothing too extreme.


Also, not pictured, I put my factory skids back on. I put some red rustoleum on them and they look great. Only issue was that two of the bolts snapper when I initially took them off, and we tried to extra them. No dice. Ended up just drilling a new hole in the skid with some beefier bolts and put them through two holes already in the frame. Works, but not ideal.

03->06 Headlight Swap Guide

Haha no way dude! Small world for sure. I'm really new to the 4runner/wheeling scene, so I'm thinking I'm gonna try to hit up Rausch Creek a few times over the school year. Only like 1:45 away!

Been a little while and I almost forgot about this thing! Haven't done too much recently, but I did go scuba diving with a buddy the other day. He wanted to take his little Benz sedan and I'm happy I overruled him. Not only did we have a ton of gear, but the road down to the dive site was nuts. Rocks, ditches, gravel, etc etc etc. Happy to say the 4Runner took it like a champ and I am in love with this beast. Now I want to go offroading even more! :hungry:

Cb Radio

Ended up finding a few killer deals on some CB equipment, so I said screw it and decided to get the rest of the parts needed. Hopefully going to get this mounted up later this week, and then tuned in an open field with my buddy at the beginning of next week.

So far the parts I have are:
-Cobra 75
-3' Firestik
-18' Fire ring coax
-Spring
-Comet RS720





Definitely going to be placing this above my driver side tail light in order to get enough clearance over the roof line. Should be a relatively easy install. I went with the 75 cause I want something small and discreet, and potentially removable.

As for wiring, I am hoping to keep the little control box under the dash near the cup holders, and wire it in to an ACC Fuse (any suggestions?). I have a few extra blank switch covers, so I might play around with the idea of cutting one up to accommodate the disconnect-able plug. Would be very clean and such, but not sure how feasible it actually is. Then I think I'm going to use some adhesive velcro to mount to mount the 75 below the 4Hi/Lo switch. Now I just need to figure out how to run the coax! Any suggestions?

Stealth LED Bar

Have been so swamped with work and school recently that I haven't been able to do any actual work on my car. I have my CB ready to go, and just today I got the final piece for my Stealth LED Bar. Here are some pics of the brackets and a little teaser of the light bar!





I ended up going with an Opt7 bar. From my research, people seemed to have pretty good luck with them and it wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I actually found it was cheaper to buy it directly from them with the wiring harness, so I did just that. The harness looks well made, the bar feels like a tank, and I am so excited to install it (hopefully this weekend!).

is this the led bracket for the group buy? I'm looking to order these brackets and i think i may copy your idea with the led bar as well. But didn't it say the brackets would only fit a 30" bar?

Yea it is from the group buy from [MENTION=93512]MojaveMadMan[/MENTION]. I think he is out of stealth brackets, but if there is enough interest I am sure he would make more.

And yup, 30" bar. Technically it is a 32" bar because there are few actual 30" bars. One of the reasons I chose the OPT7 32" bar was because it was relatively cheap, and the other reason was because apparently it is the bar that the bracket is based off of.

Like the build!!! You don't always have to go crazy to have a great rig.

I am currently waiting for laser cut pets for 6 Stealth bars. Taking pre orders and will be shipping in the next three weeks or sooner.
