Maybe it was an attempt to maintain a degree of fairness or due diligence. Maybe I wanted to pre-emptively assuage any guilt I might have later about making hasty decisions. Regardless, it was all just a pointless exercise because I knew I was going to end up with the 4Runner in the end. This really did make things rather anti-climactic on Friday when I picked up my ’12 Limited after work. I thought I would be a bit more excited walking in and signing the paperwork but in the end it just felt very routine – why wouldn’t I have been there getting the 4Runner? Foolishness to think otherwise.
I always thought of myself as a Subaru guy. My first car in High School was a '96 Outback and my first new car was a 2005 Legacy wagon with the 2.5 Turbo motor. I always wanted a 4Runner though, so when Subaru killed the Wagon, then the GT, then the Outback ballooned up I decided the time was right to make the switch over. 3 days and 300 miles later I know I made the right choice.
Anyway, I picked the Truck up on Friday night, drove it off the lot at 8 PM and 12 hours later I was pulling up to the trailhead in Michaux state forest for a weekend on the AT. Bit of a lucky coincidence that I got the 4Runner the day before because access to the trail head was a deeply rutted dirt road that would have stopped my Legacy cold.
Everyone's seen a Black Limited but here it is anyway, 12 hours old and in service.
My first mod is likely going to be the Supercharger, if URD or TRD ever release one.
