Not to start another V6/V8 battle, but

I test drove a 2010 Limited 4runner today. Basically it drove very much like my 4th gen, which is not bad. I like the shifter better. You do not have to follow the gates in the shifter to hold like 1st or 2nd gear, just bump it forward or backward to hold a gear. The styling is growing on me and I mostly like what I saw. I did notice the gas tank skid plate only covers 1/2 of the tank. Now for my biggest complaint. The V6 felt a little rough to me and I did not think it was that powerful. I was not impressed at all by the way it sounded. When I left the dealer in my 03 V8 I fell in love with my 03 again. The power felt smooth and effortless and it sounded great. Luckily mine only has 43k on it but I wanted to sell it to my son and buy a new one for me. I told the dealer to try to locate a new 09 4x4 with a V8. I did not feel the 2010 would satisfy me strickly because of the engine. I sent Toyota a note to see if the new 4.6 would ever be put in the 4runner but I doubt they will respond. For 43k (limited 4x4)I need more than they are offering

I thought the revised or new 4.6 is in the runner. I test drove a SR5 the other day and felt the amount of power was ok but nothing that I would get excited about. I also felt at full throttle too much engine noise as heard in the cabin and it felt a little course, otherwise it was a very nice ride

nope. new v6 or i4 only. everyone's praying they introduce the 4.6 V8 in the next year or two…

Nope. V6 is available in 4x2 and 4x4. 4-cylinder is available in 4x2. No V8 available.
