Now I feel the need to take pics of my truck in front of everything...

So this 148 foot long freighter washed up not far from my house after the hurricane. As they're prepping it to be taken apart, everyone is coming by to take tourist pics. I figured I'd do the same. I was using a very wide lens up close, so the scale is a little distorted. Its kind of a big ship! It was docked not far from here, and before the storm they took it a mile offshore, but it broke its mooring and came back.

Believe me, I thought of that! The first image doesn't show the police barricade, news cameras, gawkers, etc. Its also on a fairly busy road.

This isn't even a big one! The thousand foot long ships are always coming in and out of the harbor. I can only imagine if a Carnival cruise ship washed up in front of my house!

Anthony MV- Sorry just got back online now. It is on Staten Island where TJNaples says it is. I live about a mile away from it.

TJNaples- You'd know better than me- are they going to break that up where it is, or try to drag it back in and tow it somewhere to scuttle it? I would imagine it is nowhere near seaworthy anymore. My wife and I kayaked around it when it was docked near the pilots, and it looked like a floating heap then...

Last I was told (USCG AD here) it will be towed. I've been out of pocket recovering from surgery so that answer may have changed.

I went to an old friends house in rockaway to help him clean up.....man, it's like the beach took over the streets......especially his bock, 110 street, no black top to be seen.....terrible
My back hurt for a coupla days after the shoveling.....
