NYC-Runner Build Thread

Finally got the suspension in today!!! With a Huge help from Absoluteyoda ! Took most of the day, for the most part it's went pretty smooth except for the rear LT springs they were a Pita because they were soo long so we had to get some spring compressors to compress them to fit them in. I originally wanted to run the 1.5 Daystar spacer on the driver side with a 1" on the pass but because they were giving us such a hard time I just kept the 1" spacers on both sides.Other than that it look great and rides even better! I didn't adjust the fronts yet just installed them as they came I'm waiting to get my bumper hopefully this coming month and then once that's on I will re adjust the coilovers. I still have to do the ext brake lines and ext bumpstops as we ran a little short on time. Off to get a alignment tomorrow morning. In the meantime here's a couple quick cell pics that I took.

Nice choice! Be curious to hear how you like the rear springs.

Are these the camburgs with the moog ball joints? Did you get them from wheelers? And where did you get the caps and how much?

The set up looks really good:thumb3:

The caps are listed on Camburgs website. Looks like $40. Camburg Balljoint UCA Cover Kit

Thanks man!

Yes Camburgs with the moog Bj's and yes i got them from Wheelers off road but i just got the UCA's and bought the BJ's separate and we pressed them, Saved a couple bucks! Also what ebg18t said,, the caps are on camburgs site and yeah i think $40

Yeah they were a pain to get in but so far it drives like a whole new truck,Of course a lot was changed all at once but it rides amazing! I will definitely have a good diagnosis once i get a chance to really get off road with it!

Are your rear springs the HD or medium weight?

Mediums ,,, I don't have enough weight back there, and was told by other who run the HD's that with out the extra weight in the back it would be a extremely harsh ride. I will probably upgrade to the HD's down the road once i get cargo drawers and a rear bumper!

Great thank you

Had a nice day of wheeling today in CT! Got to test out my new suspension/kinda ,, I still don't have my extended brake lines or bump stops in yet so i had to keep the rear sway bar connect to so i didn't F anything up. But man WOW what a difference seriously it was like butter on the trails the 4runner just ate up everything i couldn't be happier and i couldn't get the rear wheels anywhere close to off the ground no matter how hard i tried even with the rear sway bar still connected!

Haha,,, Dude it's awesome man! I mean it's a big difference going from a stock set up with springs/spacers but still. I can't wait till i can fully disconnect the rear it's gonna be crazy!

This has quickly become one of my favorite builds. The LT setup is gonna be sick when you can take of the sway bar

I need some 33"s!!

New shoes
FN 17x8.5 Five stars
Goodyear Fierce Attitude 285/70r17

Love the stance of the new set up sits just the way I want it! Here's some quick cell pics from earlier, gotta get the camera and take some better shots it's so hard to catch the black wheels with the cell cam and the lighting!

A couple more from over the weekend, plus a wheel shot cause it's so hard to catch them in the pics! I've tried like 20 times haha my iPhone camera sucks.

Hopefully I'll have my front bumper from AOR this coming month! Then I should be able to chill for a bit until I can find a solution to the rear. Maybe do some interior mods over the winter. Cargo drawers are definitely on the list! Other than that hope to get out and do some good fall and winter wheeling, I didn't get to make it out as much as I wanted this summer.

Wow man I love your build. Working on an '08 myself - I'm actually just outside of NYC but all my buddies wheel Jeeps haha; it's refreshing to see another 4runner nearby : )

I see you decided on the AOR front bumper - I was torn between Demello and AOR myself, what made you pick AOR? Just looking for someone else to validate my purchase haha.

Here she is : )

Demello sliders, Budbuilt skids throughout, Icon stage 1 lift, and M/T KM1s. Just went to Tar Hollow this past weekend and I was blown away by what this thing could handle.

Thanks man! It's always good to see other built up Runners close by.I think there's another member on here that lives where your at @ohcrymore i met him down at the FJNE meet back in May.Yeah i wheel with a couple jeep guys but we wheel with a bunch of toyota guys too!

Yeah i'm patiently awaiting for my AOR bumper :hungry: I love the Demello bumper and it's always been one of me favorite bumpers and is what i originally planned on getting then AOR came out with their new bumper and i think it looks bad ass so i figured i would go with something new/different plus save a few bucks with the GB. The only thing i know is that the Demello uses thinner steel for the purpose of weight savings and AOR uses thicker steel but a less material so the weight ends up being the same,i think their both around 90lbs Scotty from AOR pretty much builds all his bumpers with a rock crawling back round in mind and all the bumpers from the 1st Gen to the 4th are all built from the same platform

Nice man! You didn't waste any time building her up:thumb3:You gotta start a build thread. I don't where tar hollow is, good wheeling? Oh yeah i was amazed at how capable my 4Runner was the first day i got it and took it off road stock haha and it's only gotten better! I wheel with a bunch of guys from CT there's some really good wheeling spots we hit up you'll have to come sometime. There's a bunch of Toyota groups i'm part of on FB and that's usually where we organize most of the meets and runs. My FB name is JKNYC Runner , i pretty much only use for the Toyota groups wheeling purposes but hit me up on there and we'll wheel..
