I got the Body mount chop done today and cut and bashed the pinch welds back, in prep for bigger tires. Everything came out great and i definitely got some nice extra added clearence in the front. All went well until i was stitch welding the pinch welds and the rubber on the inside there caught on fire, but it wasn't until a couple of minutes later when i was like "what's that smell" and i saw smoke coming from the engine bay:wow2: I quickly found out how well my fire extinguisher works! Scared the crap out of me for a sec, no damage though other than a little burnt rubber and the fact that the inside of my truck smells like a BBQ pit.



I also put on new front rotors and pads because i've been having a very annoying pulsation when braking at certain speeds. I'm going to do the rears tomorrow even though after breaking in the front i think the pulsating is completely gone..



I also got a killer deal on a set of Goodyear MTR Kevlar 305/70r17's that i couldn't pass up on! Not quite 35's like i wanted but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Should have them mounted up on Monday!

Looks good! Did you do the trimming for your fender today also or has it been like hat. That's the only spot mine rubs right now

Yeah i did that today also, that should hopefully take care of the front but pf course i won't know for sure until i get the new tires on and do some flex tests. Now i just have to trim up the rear pinch welds for when it's flexed out.

Nice. I cut enough of mine out so it didn't rub but I need to finish it off like you did. Question for ya- where did you run your wiring for your e-locker? I see a couple different spots but was curious what you did. This project is taking forever. Not sure how in the hell you did it all in a day, even with help. Haha. I've been so busy, and my gear guy has been slammed too so it's dragging out. TIA

Well in fairness we didn't do the harness that same day we just got all the diffs swapped, My lockers actually not hooked up yet lol:hiding: Because the day we did everything we had to leave the rear locker open since the harness and switch wasn't hooked up yet. I had my buddy wire the switch for me who does all my electrical so i'm not 100% sure how or where he routed the wire? I can try to look under there later to see and give you a rough idea. So now the wire is ran but i have to lift the back wheels up and pull the locker motor and manually switch the locker over into LOCK position and then turn the switch on to LOCK and then re instal the motor and everything will be good to go. So don't stress it's a big job no matter which way you look at it ...

I put the relays and stuff into a small Plano tackle box to keep it protected, but then found that there is nowhere under the dash where it will fit because of all the remote start crap they put in. I ended up sticking it to the bottom of the drivers seat. Since the box is clear I put the locking and unlocking led's in so if there is ever an issue I can look and see if it's not hitting it's limit switches for an easy troubleshooting tool. If you don't mind could you just look and see where he ran the wires through. All the pictures I've seen are from 3rd gens. I've got a couple ideas but thought I'd see what you did. So, why do you have to lift the wheels and do all that when you hook it up?

I have so much wiring and crap all in my dash from all my lights and switches! That's a great idea with the box and the LEDs.

So I looked yesterday and the wires are run from the locker up to the rear driver side corner. There's a couple of plugs up under there and their thru there into the rear hatch near where the stock bottle jack compartment. Then it looks like he ran them up and along the headliner to the front and down the driver side pillar. Since I didn't have anymore room for switches since I have wayyy to many cool lights I had to put the locker switch over by the door and make a new hole in the dash for the locker switch there. Hope this helps some, let me know if you have any other questions?

I mounted up my new tires yesterday! I really wanted to go to a 35 or 315 but I came across a killer deal on CL for 5 Goodyear MTr Kevlar tires 305/70/17 with only a few thousand miles on them for $800 so I could pass them up. Not quite 35's but at least a 34" so it's a step in the right direction for now!

I did a body mount chop over the weekend for extra clearance and I'm happy to say that I don't have any rubbing what so ever! At least up front I know I'm going to have to do some trimming in the rear for when I'm flexes out. But I definitely have more than enough room to clear 315s in the future!

These tires are awesome! We had a little trouble at first balancing them out at my buddies shop so I brought them to my buddy who works as a tech at a stealership and he used the roadforce balancer and got them all balanced perfectly! But wow what a difference! Because of the Kevlar reinforced side walls the truck feels like a whole new truck on the road, Solid. I can't wait to get them on the trail as I heard they do even better there.

I think i'm coming down your way (well kind of) with this guy [MENTION=103699]lipek[/MENTION] in the beginning of Sept for the Appalachian Toyota Round up at Windrock. You should try to come man maybe you could hit up PD and caravan down! That would be awesome to wheel with you guys down there, I'm pumped i've heard that place is huge!

Yeah definitely check it out!It shouldn't be that bad of a ride for you guys,at least compared to are ride 11-12 hrs! What are you thinking for a tent, I know we spoke about that a while ago? I was thinking of bring my trailer with the RTT but my buddy is getting a huge cabin and has extra beds so i'll pry just crash with them.

Oh also i think i'm going to try to come down to visit my sister this summer so hopefully i can link up with you guys again and do another Uwharrie run! I just have to figure out the dates.

That would be a great set up! I want to get a couple awnings as well (one for the truck and one for trailer), idk if i have a preference probably either carb or tepui. Those add on rooms for the awnings are pretty awesome, definitely a great option to have a extra set up for more people. Their probably nice and easy to set up and take down too.

Have you had those tires off-road yet? What about finishing up the locker? I finally finished my install. Took it for a short drive tonight and it is awesome- glad I went for the 4.88's. Lockers tested OK. Just need to get it out on a trail now.

Yes i did a trip to Maine a couple of weeks ago and got to get the new tires dirty and they did awesome! Haha it's really embarrassing but i still haven't hooked up my switch! I didn't come across anything technical enough where i needed it up in Maine so it wasn't a problem but i'm still bummed because i haven't gotten to use it yet. Sweet I'm glad you got everything all finished up and your running it! I've been super happy with the 4.56s so far great both on and off road. I've been so bust lately that i haven't had time to do anything, barely was able to prep for the trip i took. Anyways hope to get the locker with in and get out sooner then later to try it out..

Thanks. I honestly don't remember? I think i might have just gotten them both from home depot. I would recommend getting a axe with a wooden handle though, I used this axe a few time to chop wood and on the trail and the handle is cracked so idk how much longer it's going to last? I'll probably replace it soon.
