I will be getting delivery of the 06 Scion head unit on Monday. I will be going to SAT radio, likely Sirrus. Is there a benifet to the factory SAT tuner at $250.00 compared to the $50.00 Best buy deal? What is the difference? Is the factory unit even visible or is it a hidden unit that uses head unit controls?

factory $250 unit plugs into the HU and you use the controls on the HU. I have been thinking about doing this too, but i just dont want to spend the money on it when i know I can go to bestbuy or walmart and get one so much cheaper. on the other hand i like how the scion unit is integrated to the HU and you dont have any extra wires or controllers anywhere.

Thanks, that is the answer I was hoping for. I don't like the $250.00 price tag, but I am keeping this truck for a long time so I think I will bite the bullet on it.

Factory XM kit is by far the cleanest install option. No dangling wires or extra "things" hanging off your dash. There is an eBay auction right now for a Toyota XM kit for the Scion head unit. Search eBay for item number: 5837437769.

If you miss out on that one the factory part number is PT546-52040 and you can buy it from www.toyota-parts-dealer.com for $239.20.

Would you happen to know the model number and part number for the three knobbed 06 Scion HU as well? I tried searching but didn't find much administrative data on this model of HU. Thanks.

I have the factory scion XM you're looking for!

I just had it out on ebay and will sell the XM kit with the 2004 radio for $210.00 Shipping included.

Why get rid of it you ask? I have recently installed the 3 knob iPod radio and would like to swith to Sirius SAT. All wiring included, have receipts and original box. Let me know.

I have this, tried selling it sometime a number of months ago but no one was interested in it.

I still have it all in its original box, untouched and unused. If someone wants it, PM me.

I purchased the 3 knob unit on Ebay for $300. It's a bit pricey, but they'll be more out there soon. I bucked up for the true iPod integration.

bought mine 100 shipped new. just keep looking at ebay, a lower price will come up. I still need some of the wiring to connect to the ipod cord, and i want to get sat sometime, but i dont want to spend 200 on it :(

saw one on ebay last night for $260 shipped.

right now there are a few up there for around $450.

i'm getting one from a guy, but it is definitely more than $100!

Saw one 3-knob H/U that went for $285 + ship, another for $255 + ship and then one for $150 + ship

The FJ Cruiser also has a different type of HU that should be a direct swap as far as double DIN size and electrical connectors. Has anyone researched that HU?

That one is the FJammer Radio...

It seems like a double-DIN Scion-Pioneer 6 disc changer with a different faceplate, color change, satellite, and subwoofer connection.

They are selling in the $250 range on EBay.

I don't like the faceplate..... :nono:
