Christmas Eve 2022
Dishpan Springs trail 3N34
We researched the route and conditions and decided to run the trail in reverse starting at the top of 3N16 and Green Valley Road at 6240'
The top of the trail was snowy and muddy, and in some spots icy. I didn't take any pics from the top form, but when we got to the 3N34 junction we stopped in the sun, most all snow was gone
Where we came from, 3N16
We took 3N34 towards Crab Flats, the trail starts out easy
We took that about a mile, weaving around seasonal campsites that were all closed until we got to the difficult section of 3N34 to Deep Creek just after passing this sign
The entrance of the trail
It became challenging rather quickly after passing over the upper bridge (there is on at the bottom, too)
Since we ran the trail in reverse, we actually encountered the obstacles differently than most, and we went down them. With gravity on your side you'd think that was easier, and it is, but it's also easier to get out of shape quickly, especially with the icy patches we found, but it was fun!
Lots of banked and rutted trail, and many tight turns. Many were lined with brush jutting out into the trail, amazing pinstripe opportunity. I got many, I'm sure.
Lots of pinch points to navigate through
Many were off camber, some were icy. At 15 psi I was able to hold most of my lines with little slippage
We didn't get pics of the lower gatekeeper, we didn't want to lose light, we spent almost 4 hours on trail and never saw another person, but we did see fresh tracks, mostly dirt bike, but we did manage to have lunch on trail with a view of the lake
