My speedometer and odometer are both off because the 33 inch tires that i have. What is the cheapest way to correct the problem. I keep finding myself hauling a__ and wasting gas.
eace:
The speedometer can possibly be reprogrammed bht not the odometer.
Altering the odometer in any way is for sure a violation of state law and most likely federal law as well.

Just to be clear, I didnt say that having a speedometer / odometer that is OFF is illegal just that modifying (rolling back / correcting) the odometer is always illegal.Right now his is off because of the tires. If someone regears they'll be off too. Neither are illegal.

I'm not suggesting he roll the the miles back or up, just that he recalibrate it. I've never done it on a 3rd Gen but I have on other cars. On previous cars that used a mechanical odometer and a speedo cable it was just a matter of changing the speedometer gear. (I had to do it when I went to 4.10's from 3.08's in my Mustang.
In new cars that operate off of a vehicle speed sensor to run the speedo and odometer I think it's just a matter of reprograming it. But I've never done it that way so I'm not sure. But I can guarantee you that it's not illegal to make your speedo and odometer accurate.
