Odyessey battery fitment issue

I have a Odyessey 34R 1500 mounted but fit is not a good as I would like. The white pieces of material in photo asre 1/4" rubber and they do the job just don't look that neat. The way it is mount now holds it very firmly in place with zero movement.

Any opinions on better battery hold down would be welcome. I will say I don't have to hold the key all the way to the right as long as with other battery, in other words vehicle starts quicker with this battery.

You could use a piece of plywood under the battery as a spacer or drop a larger nut into battery hold down rods as a spacer before you thread in and tighten nuts.

That's a good idea but I don't like the way the top clamp fits to the battery. That's why I put the rubber there to cushion and kind of form fit the clamp to the battery.

Take a box cutter and slowly and neatly cut the rubber in the shape of the top clamp. That way you do not see all the unnecessary excess rubber. The part of the rubber that is actually doing something is under that clamp.

I have thought about using an Odyssey battery when the time comes. They are expensive but suppose to last up to eight years.

What about using their mounting bracket? Seems like it would be pretty stout. Or at least the height adapter.

Are you just concerned about holding the edge more snug since it seems like the battery is slightly narrower than the bracket's clamping edge? Maybe try getting some stick on rubber strips like you would find in Home Depot to seal the doors/windows. It comes in all widths and thicknesses so I am sure you can find an appropriate one to stick on the back side of your battery tie down and it should fill up the slack no problem.
