OEM 3VZE water pump

I've had 2 gates water pump fail me and the most recent only made it 13,000 before it failed. The first was under warranty and the second still is but I'm not wanting this to happen again. I'm not really wanting to replace the water pump with another Gates and found an Aisin on rockauto's website. I think OEM for that motor was Aisin. Does anyone know if this the equivalent for the OEM replacement? Thanks!

Aisin is the OEM. Be sure your waterpump has the water pipe coming from the side where the thermostat is. i have a 88 3vze and it did not have the water pipe. also while buying the water pump, i was asked if my engine had the spring style tensioner or hydraulic tensioner. not sure why that matters. i would just make sure if yours has that water pipe or not.

i would only put the oem in there considering the work involved if it fails

I was pretty sure aisin was the OEM. I know toyota charges around $135 or so for the OEM and saw this one on rockauto. I wasnt sure if they were the same or not. The large difference in price is what made me question whether or not the one from toyota and rock auto were the same.

May as well... You've exposed everything necessary to replace it. Due 100K miles or 10 years.

I am just now doing one .... I am changing all the parts pump, idlers T belt etc ... getting the cam bolts off I broke a pulley ... not happy lol ... wish I had access sooner I would not have purchased a gates kits ... I been using other gates products for years ... hope it is not an issue. Got the cam gear wrench coming tomorrow ... I sheared two bolts on driver side bolt on cam the bolt won ... and I damaged the pulley so I recommend you get the wrench 57 bucks on amazon!
