Well, there is plenty of other stuff in front of the wiring ... no idea what happens to all the stuff when an airbag goes off, but I doubt that wiring harness is going to stop the airbag, anyway!
I don't suppose anyone has a part number for that silly black fastener that holds the passenger side kick panel in place? Maybe my Google-foo is weak today, but I'll be damned if I can even find the kick panel itself let alone the fastener.

Has anyone installed the 3rd row sub version? I'm curious if this sub can be installed on a TRD pro with 2 rows of seating.
I think when you order you tell them third row or now ... there is nothing special I am aware of for the TRD Pro ... just the standard 2-row option.

Just got a response from Daniel. He says the panels are much different on the 3rd row version, so the sub will not fit in a TRD pro, or 2-row version. This is a bummer because I was hoping to keep the sub on the passenger side.

Daniel told me that all early adopters should be receiving some sort of notification (email, I assume) by "the end of the week."

took me about an hour. Piece of cake. (no 6 x 9's yet...)
but even just that change - big improvement (mainly due to the tweeters, the stock 6x9's, puny magnets and all, do put out some midbass (one note, it's boomy, but they do have some).
Amp and subwoofer tomorrow - guessing 2 hours to do that tops.
Very impressed so far.

So, it took me about 4 hours and change on the install.
The biggest challenges.
1. Getting the harness across from the kick panel to the deck. I ended up using fishing tape to help (that sped things up)
2. Tucking the rear harness between the right rear panel before it comes across, it's a very tight corner.
Overall, very impressed from customer service to the completeness of the install instructions and video. I've pulled apart a 4 runner before so that helped.
Overall Thoughts. (don't have the 6 x 9's yet).
1. Sound Quality - it's quite good. Soft domes I always feel are a good call in cars, particularly by the dash. The bass is solid. Not a boomer as many have mentioned, but plenty for me. The system reminds me of the Harman Kardon System I heard in a BMW recently. Maybe a tad more bass than that, but a good system. My brother has the JBL system in his Limited, I think this sounds better overall. (the JBL I find to sometimes have a "tinny" sound to it.
2. I probably would have designed the system with a 10 inch woofer, really only because I don't think it would have posed an issue. But honestly it's not remotely a make or break thing. If you are not doing competition audio, want a clean, excellent sounding system that is overall very stock looking - I would tell almost anyone that this is the way to go.
3. I have a serious high end system in my home, and in my car I don't need competition level audio. But this really is a good sounding system.
4. Cost. So if I look at what 1600 bucks could get me - could I get "better" components - maybe. But it would NOT have a clean custom box like this, along with an amp, all cables, and the install. Sure, I did the install and that saves a ton of money. But this is really a smart system, from having the amp mounted under, but attached to the seat, to the harnesses (I can't say enough how much easier that makes a job like this). Cost wise, I don't think you could come close to this sound, and integrated look for 1600 bucks.
I'm impressed, and would not hesitate to recommend or buy the system again.
I don't know that the 6 x 9's will change a ton, possibly tighter mid-bass. The one thing the stock 6x9's can do is put out a fair amount of mid-bass (it's one note, it's bloated, it's not tight, but they stock speakers can do that).
If you are on the fence, and don't mind 4-6 hours of your own time to do an install - just order this system.

Maybe through Customer feedback (especially routing the harness through the dash board to the head unit) they are updating that part of the instructions.

Overall very impressed with my OEM Audio + setup, ordered 6/30/17 received 7/12/17 and also received the email screenshot above with the update on the 6x9 shipping. Took me about 6 hours to install the amp and other speakers as this was my first time disassembling most of these sections of the vehicle. The Youtube installation video is quite comprehensive and easy to follow.
I'm a big fan of this "plug and play" type install, as others have mentioned for $1600 its certainly possible to get better components but it would require a certain level of audio installation background and wire cutting / splicing / running to get it operational. For how clean this install looks with not needing to cut a single stock wire, this solution is definitely the way to go for the average 4Runner owner looking to improve their audio.
As far as the audio quality, I'm no audiophile but I'd consider it night and day. I'll start off by saying my stock 2017 TRD OR-P Entune system never really sounded that bad to me, I'd had it for several months and really did find it adequate for anything I wanted to listen to, but I did feel that the highs could be clearer and bass didn't feel 'full'. Since I had already considered the stock system "pretty good" I wasn't really sure what kind of improvement I'd get from this upgrade and wasn't really expecting too much. Even without the 6x9's installed yet the audio quality blows me away, I'd compare the audio experience to what you get from high end headphones or a quality home theater system. The highs are crystal clear and sharp across the whole range of notes and the bass is deep and fills the vehicle nicely. Where on my stock system I'd turn the volume up to 40-45 to really get some sound going (albeit distorted to an extent), on the new OEM Audio a volume of 30 is certainly more clear and more loud. Riding around bumping some some heavy music such as Future or Space Jesus can really produce some insane BASS that will impress almost anyone.
Long story short, if you're on the fence I recommend going for it, this has definitely been an upgrade I've been very happy with so far (and there's still 2 speakers yet to arrive!)
