from the email this evening: We are suspecting that there may be a mis-match between your 450Q Amplifier EQ (using you Tacoma conversion Amplifier) and our New 6x9 (32-2015). A difference in sound reproduction that would not be present with the 500Q EQ work. That being said, we are arranging to have a 450Q 4Runner on site to evaluate the songs you have provided.
What I dont understand is how different the two amps would be given they updated my 450q with the most recent DSP.

OK, here's my 6x9's... pretty dramatic the diff in size of the magnet huh?
My other ones look same as yours....
Guess I can't speak as to performance until I actually install my setup, but [MENTION=226993]metalrex[/MENTION] has same as my 6x9's and seems like thsee neodymium speakers might not balance out with the the other four coax speakers... especially since your 6x9 is traditional large magnet like the coax ones. Daniel at OEA+ says they use the neodymium 6x9's to increase performance and cut down on install size. Seems odd to me since you didn't have a problem with how big your 6x9 magnets are in your door mounts? Perhaps they changed them for other rigs with more shallow doors or to avoid the windows when rolled down? Who knows.

There's a possibility my amp (450q) doesnt play nice with the new speakers. Not sure why that would matter as they updated it to the 4runner. Dont know. Well see what he finds out.

I installed 500Q system recently in my 10TE which has a head unit of 13LE (non JBL with Display screen and NAV). all connected as instructed by OEM+. the ground connection under the seat is fine (no body color blocking the contact) and the power cable from the battery is also connected with the fuse as instructed. I am not getting any sound at all from the OEM+ system. I don't think that the external AMP is turning on.... and that may be because it is not getting the remote/trigger signal from the HU to Turn on. I also tried the original 10TE Head Unit and the same issue continues. Do you know what cable from behind the deck needs to be fed to the what cable on the OEM+ harness behind the deck... so that the remote/tigger/ignition-start signal can be sent to the AMP? this is also known as 'jumping' but i do not know what cable from the HU (Red?) needs to be connected to the Amp harness (Blue/White?). thanks.

I don’t think there’s a way to install that incorrectly behind the head unit. I would double check and make sure all your connections are correct on your head unit. Also make sure the fuse is working. Check for heat at the amp. It’ll warm up if it’s on at all.
yes you are correct. I made a HUGE mistake in connecting... i had connected the yellow power cable to the negative terminal of the battery... duh! so I corrected that right away. Once this was corrected, the 2011 Trail non-JBL non-NAV non-LCD hard unit worked right away with the OEM+ 500Q Reference setup.
what DID NOT work is the 2013 non-JBL NAV LCD head unit. it did not turn the AMP on. So with the help of some other members on this side (see http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...t-wiring-stereo-amp-question.html#post3060769) I figured out that the RED cable had to be jumped into the Blue/White cable on the 500Q harness that connects on the back of the head unit. this jump cable sent Remote-Trigger-On signal to the 500Q DSP/Amp.... and the system came to life.... so I am all set.

What are your initial thoughts?
I broke one of the 6x9 speakers while installing so waiting for OEM+ replacement. the rest of the stuff is installed including the sub. Once I have the 6x9 installed then I can provide a complete review.
you should contact Daniel @ OEM+. he may be able to sell you a custom package (without sub) and the DSP tuned to feed more lows to the rest of the speakers. I put the sub in but I did not want to scarify the rear back cargo hook so I kept the wire loose on the cargo tray.
I just came to my T4R from the Subaru world and I had an OEM + system in my Subaru and It was 100% not worth the price or the effort in my honest opinion. In fact I am still trying to sell the system for $350 (used of course) and no one wants to buy it. Maybe it's better on the 4Runner but my buddy had the factory Harmon Kardon in his subie and it was WAY better than the OEM + system in mine.
I would not take the plunge until you have heard it in person (on a T4R specifically). I also had distortion coming through the tweeters with high frequency sounds (fuzz/crackle type noises). That they were never able to help me resolve.

an interim update on the quality.
the 500Q is fully wired (except for the 6x9s) and i hear some distortion or noise coming through some speakers (manly front passenger side 6x9 stock speaker and may be the top passenger side OEM+ tweeter). i hear two types of noise : first=> constant crackling (more like some thing is constantly rattling) from the 6x9 speaker; and second => sound of some type servo motor turning on and off every now and then near the glove box compartment and the noise gets louder as the engine races. when I take the fuse out near the battery for the 500Q system, these both sounds completely disappear. these sounds stay steadily regardless of the music source playing and they are annoying as they are loud enough to get noticed.
i just contacted OEM+ about this and now waiting for feedback.

I have a 2018 3rd row 4Runner and have been running the reference system for a few months now. I am a bit "underwhelmed" by this setup. You MUST have a quality source for this system to sound good. I have been using a Samsung USB drive, and find myself adjusting settings from song to song. I decided to order a second dedicated amp for the sub, and placed that order a month ago. No word from OEM Audio on the status after reaching out twice via email. This is strange as the customer service has been superb. I recommend you listen to this system before you buy it. I am hoping this second amp will add some additional punch and life to the system (if and when it shows up). I will have 2100 tied into this setup. Would I do it again? No. Plug and play is a HUGE plus, but the end result will leave you saying....really, that's it?

If all goes well I'll have time to install my 500q system this coming weekend...
I ordered the 500q+ with sub and 2nd dedicated amp back in July. Like many here, I found Daniel to be very responsive in answering my pre-purchase questions and dealing with some components missing in the initial delivery of the system (missing the tweeters and part of the harness initially). had I wanted to install it right away that lack of attention to detail might have been more annoying but I have been waiting for an accessory meter display part on backorder for this mod.... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/258827-2015-accessory-meter-display-mod-conversion-harness-how.html#post3012397 wanting to do it at the same time as the OE Audio+ setup with hopes of only pulling my dash apart once if things go well. The display part finally shipped last week and I'm supposed to get it today so if everything stays favorable for my schedule, I'll be able to install everything this weekend and give my impressions here.

I went the plug and play Focal route and couldnt be more pleased. IS690 TOY for doors/dash and IC165TOY for rear doors and hatch. It sounded great with just a speaker swap but for more power I added an audison bit ten processor and a 5 channel jl audio amp. I didnt cut a single wire. I used harnesses from tacotunes for the processor and amp. It was a weekend project but the speakers went in fast. I bought a 5 channel amp to add a subwoofer later but TBH the mid bass is so STRONG it isnt really needed.
Yes. Sound dampened all the doors also.
Got any links to how you did this? Focals, and what harness's are necessary?
