Hey, I just purchased a 2000 TR4 that did not include keyless remote. It has window sticker for "code alarm," so I've been looking that up, but something doesn't seem right. I can't find enough matching info to confidently gamble $50 on a replacement remote... perhaps someone here can shed some light...
Here's the data...
- Alarm "brain" under dash says "Code Alarm Sureguard" ... google returns void for this model of code alarm, making me unsure to order a "code alarm" remote.
- back of the brain shows install date of 4/30/99 which means it was probably installed in factory/dealer. Other ID marks are "R-2 LBL0577 5/94" ... google has loose hits on this w/ relation to other makes but not toyota.
I'm thinking it may have used a factory key fob but have an alarm instead of just keyless entry. When looking at factory fobs, there's two options, a remote with a light at the top, and one without. Since I don't have the original remote, I don't know which it was.
IF my guess is correct, and it is a factory remote controlling a factory installed alarm, then I'm thinking it might be the one with a light.
Can anyone confirm/deny this for me, or add to the data so I know which remote to buy?
Side note, I really don't care about the alarm. I just want keyless. Thanks in advance.
