OEM rims that fit 3rd gen's?

so 17'' wheel fits 3rd gen stock, but doesn't the tire size need to be R17 then?

According to TireRack, these are the OEM sizes for my 97

Original Equipment Wheel Diameter: 15"
225/75-15

Original Equipment Wheel Diameter: 16"
265/70-16

The tire sizes, diameter wise, are the same regardless of your wheel size. If you want a tire that is the same diameter as a stock 265/70/16 (roughly 31"), you'd get a 265/65/17 (roughly 31").

If you want a 265/75/16 (roughly 32") size tire for a 17" wheel, you'd get a 265/70/17 (roughly 32").

I've got 17" rims from a 2006 Tacoma with 265/65/17 tires. They fit no problem before the lift. Kinda wish the tires were bigger now that it's lifted, but I've got some 33's from the last truck I can throw on for camping.

thanks COB, I was contemplating buying some 17'' wheels off a 5th gen, just wanted to know if they'd fit the wheel well area for a stock 3rd gen -- don't care about tire size until I shop for tires next (which won't be for a long time, current set of Michelin P265/70R16 LTX M/S2 have a lot of tread left), but I'm assuming if I get 17'' wheels, I need to get 265/65/17 or 265/70/17 as you mentioned.

so I'm assuming the issue isn't wheel diameter as much as it is tire diameter in terms of fitting in the wheel well.

Anyone running 275/70R16s on FJ TRD 16x8 or 16x7.5 wheels and stock ride height?

I have a set of BFG K02s and I'm looking to mount them on some new wheels.

They will be going on a stock 99 Limited. I'm pretty sure the 16x7.5 will work without rubbing but not sure about the 16x8?

I just bought my very first 4runner about 2 weeks ago not knowing the tires are actually oversized (31x10.50R15). It’s a 2001 SR5 2wd with those Enkei wheels that I think were an option back in the day? Anyway, I’d like to change out the wheels for something more oem so i can go back to regular sized tires and hopefully get some better mileage since this will be my daily/work truck and I have zero intentions on going off road anytime soon lol could someone please help me out on what factory wheels will fit this thing? I don’t mind if they’re Tacoma, tundra, etc just want to know what my options are. Thank you!!!!

What year are those wheels. Our local CL has a set that just came off a 2019 4Runner, Size 265/70/r17.

Recently put these 17’’ 2018 Rims on my 02’. Might have had clearance issues if I didn’t replace shocks and springs last year but no worries now all good.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but those look like the 16” 01-02 Sport Edition wheels. Are you sure you loaded the correct photo?

I don't see why the brake upgrade would cause a problem. I think youre gonna be fine.

Love those rims Spish, especially in silver. I've been doing a boatload of research lately (too much) and came across your thread. I thought I'd share specs of wheels that I came across. Like you, I was only looking at OEM wheels. This is by no means a complete list.

First, the specs of the original 3rd gen alloy wheels (5-star or split 3-spoke): 16x7, 15mm offset, 6x5.5" bolt pattern, 106mm bore (this is important because our wheels are hub-centric), 4-5/8" backspace, 3-3/8" frontspace. (Front spacing can be used to estimate how far the rim might stick out or "tuck" in from your fenders.)

Can you explain this further? Will I run into issues due to a possible slightly different bore on non-Limited 5th gen wheels on my 3rd gen? Will I need new lug nuts?

I've seen several pictures of people mounting 5th gen TRD Offroad wheels to 3rd gens. That makes me think it's easily compatible, everything considered.

I have the TRD FJ wheels in 16’s love the look, I have the tundra big brake with these wheels and use the spider track spacer. Not sure that I need the spacer but I was using when made the conversion.
