Off Road (Trail) Edition wheels and tires on 2017 LE

First off, I have been searching for this in threads and FAQs for 3 days and have not found a definitive answer.
Just picked up a 2017 4R LE. Planning ahead for next winter here in Iowa. I would like to install stock size Trail wheels (17") with mud and snow type tires in the standard size. The 17" have a wider choice of tread styles and are much more reasonably priced than the 20". I will not be putting a lift on and do not want to do body mods if at all possible. I have looked at the tire fitment chart and it looks compatible but I am questioning more the possible rocker panel interference with the 17" wheel and tire due to the LE's different body configuration. Can anyone that has tried this change please answer?

If you're looking for stock size and not have to do any modification, the TE/SR5's come with 265/70R17. They'll fit just fine and shouldn't throw the speedo off at all. As far as what the LE's have for tire monitoring, not sure about that.

There haven't been any changes reported for any of the years and quite a few of us that have gone from the 20" to the 17". It's the same diameter tire and rim regardless and they haven't changed the brake caliper. I can't see why you would have a problem when the rest of us haven't, going aftermarket for wheels would be a whole different ballgame of course.

My limited is slightly different but there are mutiple LE's with the new front bumper that have made the switch, the rocker is the same.

Thank You, I suspected there was little or no difference but did not want to start a search for wheels and then find I should have stayed with the original 20" size due to interference. Many folks here seem to run lifts and I understand as it is an enthusiasts forum and I was also one that modified my 2015 Trail although mildly compared to most here. Thanks again.

Hey hey, local Cedar Rapids area here as well(Fairfax). Had new rims and tires put on at Discount Tire the day after we bought it. Put TerraGrappler G2's on and they do fabulous in the snow. Even know we didn't really have much snow to drive in this year, but they did great. CR Toyota actually bought back the factory rims/tires as well so didn't have to worry about selling those on CL or whatever. The rims/tires didn't hurt so bad with the $ back from CR Toyota.

Yes, not much snow last winter but making up for it in rain right now. We are so lucky to have CR Toyota as a dealer, I have traded with them since 1984 and never had an issue with sales or service. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Toyota.
I will be searching for a set of Trail wheels as I want to change them out during the cold months. Had a bad experience with a big pothole and low profile tires one year, snake bit the sidewall. Not fun to change a wheel in freezing cold and snow. PM me and perhaps we can link up locally, I am retired so generally available.
