Official 3rd gen 4Runners on 35's Pic Thread

lies! a 35 does fit in the stock spare position.

They had one bfg ko2 315/75r16 in stock, I had them mount it on a wheel, and put my spare on. going to clear it tonight, time to get out the angle grinder and welder, and hopefully not wheel spacers.

clears my ucas, hits the spindle haha. ordered some spacers... anyways shouldnt take much to get rid of all the rubbing up front, also it turns lock to lock just fine. no pics yet, ill take some tomorrow when i start with the grinder.

Looks sweet! To go along with your other good info, I would love to see an explanation/pics of what you did to make room for the 35's with no BL.

Nothing a little trimming didn't take care of. I haven't taken many pictures of it but I did go on a bike ride yesterday and decided to take a couple.

35x12.50R17 Pibull Rockers, love em! I threw in the new Camburg UCAs so now that they clear I can start pounding/cutting sheet metal.

And the first attack with the jigsaw and sledge. Gonna continue the black to follow the old lines and the use either the 3M coating or maybe Monsterliner.

Picked up these 315/75r16 hancook dynapro MT, off craigslist for a really good price.

I am just on a suspension lift right now so I need to install a body lift in the near future.

How badly/where are you rubbing right now with just the suspension lift?

Now that I removed the lower half of the front bumper I only rub when I'm locked either way on the steering wheel.

I have yet to take it out wheeling so I am sure there will be plenty more places it rubs. I am going to do some hammering and removing of items over the next few weeks to make stuff fit.

But I will say this again, I am not geared and driving around today I honestly could barely notice any difference from the 285s.
Unless it becomes an annoyance when wheeling I will most likely not regear any time soon.

Ohh ok. Thats not too bad. Yeah hammering should do the trick. What stock gears do you have 3.90? 4.10?

if you have already hammered the pinch weld it probably wont rub too much. that being said, when I lowered my lift down to the first perch with 5100s and trd tundra springs, I rubbed where I hadnt before. I would flex it out on a ramp or something to see all the places that it rubs. I cut the fender, cut out the pinch weld, hammered it back and welded over it, then hammered the inner fender area, and relocated the window washer under the hood.

btw i live in tempe, pm me if you need any advice or want to meet up.

Literally the only thing I've done for clearance is remove the lower front bumper.
I plan on doing the ramp trick to find out where it rubs in the near future, though I might just wait until the body lift is installed.

I'll send you a PM shortly, bud

On a separate note, I just got back from a roughly 700 miles road trip with the runner. Went to San Diego yesterday morning and came back today. The truck did great, and besides the nasty hills that you have to climb on the I8 there were no issues.

The altitude goes from sea level to 4800ft in a pretty short distance so the climb was brutal in this heat. There were a bunch of cars on the side of the road, but the 4runner trucked right along even with the 35s and stock gearing. :fro:

joined the 35s club!

- What wheels are you running? stock 5 stars
- Do you rub the frame at full lock? Yes
- What specific tire size and brand are you running? 315/75/16 Cooper STT Pro
- Do you rub the UCA at full drop? No All-Pro UCA
- Are you running wheel spacers, if so how big are they? yes, 1.25 all around
- Are you running a body lift, if so how much? No
- Auto or manual, and what R&P gears are you running? auto, 4.30

Finally joined the club, no body lift. still have some work to do so it doesn't rub. i have extended bump stops for the rear and will trim the fender wells. in the front ill follow dirtcos method of cutting and welding some plate in there. right now its just hammered.

will update with better pictures.

3.5" (ish) suspension, no body lift, no rubbing

Rolled rear fenders and fair amount of massaging up front but they fit and no rubs

16x8 4in backspace + 1.25in wheel spacers(solved UCA rubbing), Kevlar MTR 35s on 3in lift, NO body lift, tubbed, rubbing solved. Yukon 4.88s, R- elocker, F- arb air locker

was hell to clear it at full flex/full turn. almost impossible especially with MTRs, they run big. i relocated the abs ecu/electronics on floor panel and beat the firewall with a sledge hammer for hours then decided to cut and tub the lower section. now it only barelyyy rubs the frame by couple mm. the rear fenders were rolled with a bar, but didnt work out, looked like ass, so i cut the lip off and had to chop off a couple inches off toward the rear. i got impatient and went wheeling without completing the rear so i ended up chunking and slicing the brand new tires that rubbed on the sharp metal... thank god mtrs are tough.

bumpers/winch coming soon
