Hey ya'll. Bummed I missed the last couple meet ups, my schedule didn't fit. Plus I felt the need to introduce myself here first.

Got a 99, 3.4 with 186k miles a couple of years ago. Been reading the different threads on this forum and your guy's info has helped me a great deal. Now wondering if I can tag along and try to get some work done on suspension etc as the original owner didn't do much to the rig before I purchased.

How does it compare to the hollister hills?
I'm trying to go out on a trip this weekend hollister is kinda been there done that but with all the rain it could be fun.
Never been to Frank Raines from the google pics it looks like a lot of mud pits

HAHAHA. the process taught me a lot and I got a nice lunch. tax season is upon us and I'm hoping my tax refund will fund my transmission needs. I have a lot planned for my 2002 thundercloud "silver surfer" and I look forward to installing a new one. I miss ma bae

I havent been there myself but a couple of friends said its not bad. Just a bunch of misc 4x4 trails (hill climbs, washouts, mud pits, etc). I dont think itll compare to hollister but might be worth a one time trip.

Has anyone ever cleaned their IAC valve? Im having weird issues where it seems like my rig is starving for air when i start it after a long drive (engine's still warm). RPMs kind of fluctuates then dies; it doesnt happen often but ive seen it more than id like to...any suggestions??

This weekend ill clean the throttle body and MAF. If i feel confident enough ill try to clean the IAC valve just like this:

Good idea. I just watched tims video on that too. Im kinda scared im gunna screw something up though haha. Should i do the seafoam after the TB/MAF cleaning or before?

Jay, when cleaning the throttle body, don't just spray a bunch of cleaner in there and let the the runoff drain down into the IAC. People have caused issues with the IAC doing this. I recommend spraying some on a rag, wipe and repeat. You can get it pretty clean doing it this way without the worry of getting a bunch of sludge down into the IAC. You can lift the baffle and even clean pretty good on the backside as well pushing your fingers in there. If you take the throttle body off, you could tilt it upside while spraying so the runoff doesn't drain down in the IAC.

I've never cleaned an IAC, but it can't be that difficult. Just remove the screws that hold it onto the throttle body and clean it out really good with throttle body cleaner and reassemble.

I told myself I wouldn't work on another truck for a while because I've been doing too much lately but I'd help you with this one because it would be pretty quick and would make a decent a little video. If you want, I could help you out this Saturday morning when I get off shift. I'd recommend getting a new throttle body gasket that goes between the throttle body and intake plenum.

The only other thing I would add to this, is if you're going to clean the IAC, make sure you use an impact driver. I think I've broken two drill bits inside of the screws now, and had to use vise grips to slowly remove them.

I'd say before but that's just me I'm not sure it matters
Just remember if your going to run the sea foam through the vacuum line, slow and steady no need to rush anything.

So, if you're in the Bay Area and in need of a Rear Axle Seal job, we'd like to do it for you for the low low cost of lunch and some beers. We will of course be videoing the whole thing so you'll have to be ok with that.

Let us know who you are and why you should be the deserving recipient of this work in case we get more than one person who needs it.
