Oh to familiar story...

For a quick fix, Just unplug the motor and hot wire it to your cigarette lighter or battery (-+) for up (+-) for down.

Or have a buddy apply slight pressure to the upper drivers side corner of the gate from the outside as you push the roll it up button. This is the its closed switch. It is hot wired by jumping the outer two of the three plug holes.

Or hot wire the The top is on switch located just above the driver side rear speaker.

Or unplug the Its all the way up safety switch located in the middle of the regulator

So I woke up early in the morning to try to figure it all out and hopefully get it up. (Still smile every time I say or type it) Well, it was raining and I know little to nothing about playing with electricity and especially electricity in the wet... so I said screw it and drove to pep boys (only place open close by on a saturday morning) where they told me the motor was shot and the regulator needs to be replaced. I pretty much new this already but best of all they got it up for me so I can just live with not having access to the back for a while until I can get it to my regular mechanic. Only $34 and I didn't electrocute myself! Thanks for the replies guys I appreciate it, if it was drier out I would have prob played around with it a bit more. Thanks just the same!

As much as I hate Pep Boys and the high school kids that pass for mechanics working there, they have saved me too several times.
Like the time I took out a tire headed out skiing and they were the only ones open. Fixed my tire.
And the time I destroyed the top of a shock trying to remove it. They had it out and changed in 10 minutes.
And reading an error code, for free. And testing an alternator, for free. Battery, same.
Or the time I was borrowing my dad's '92 F150, and the air pump seized, several towns from home. PepBoys had the part, and the little shop arround the corner changed it for me.

Come to think of it... I LOVE PEP BOYS!

Just an FYI... I you need a new motor and regulator just go to a junk yard and put all of the guts out of the tail gate. Real easy to do and should only cost about $30-$50 depending on junk yard. Oh... make sure it works first, haha.
